Can't speak to the ice, as roads are plowed and sanded here now. The ride quality is so close to the Toyo's H/T's (and by extension the stock GY's for that matter) as not to make a difference. My load range numbers are/were: 115 (BFG), 117 (Toyo), and 114 (GY) sooooo... D? I struggled with...
On my truck I just slid the guide down out of the way. So far so good but I can see the point of removing it completely.

On my lightly modded truck, the sonic difference between 4" and 5" on the progressive was very noticeable. Even at start up. Try them both for sure, but the WAF might have a swing vote.
Towed my 4000lb trailer in the Washington mountains.
Zero'd out the Diablo tuner, so it was all PC. Found I settled on the Sport +3 on the open road, and would go to Sport -4/-3 for city traffic. Towing acceleration was great but it might have been the new 3.92 gears too.
Had the purple wave ghosts in my camera too. Intermittent like some of you have said. For me, pulled off the tailgate cover and really just made sure connection to the camera was tight. 4 weeks and counting of it working correctly. Thinking of slopping some dielectric in there next...
