Put the front end up in the air- spin the tires make sure there is little to no friction. then I would do the poor man's method of testing front end parts- wobble the tire either up and down, or side to side depending on diagnosing which front end part.

I put 500lbs of driveway salt on the rear axle in the bed. It helps put the tire to the ground and atleast move. Plus, if you get stuck stuck, you can always open a bag of salt and help yourself get unstuck!
