I might have the opportunity to get back in a Ram. So I can get a leftover 18 Longhorn that is priced at 40k and a new 2019 for 39. Is there anything with the 19’s that is overly ****** or has become an issue. The obvious choice is to go with the 19 but I just want to be aware of things that...
I would think 5/20 or 30 as well. I know people do other weights. I have Quakerstate Dyno oil in now and the truck is as quiet as it’s ever been. I’m switching because it’s ****** oil soon, but I’m just saying
So Royal Farms opened up a store that is selling 90 ethanol free. Anyone ever run that. Yes I know the book says 89 recommended, 87 acceptable. I’ve run Several tanks of 87 and 89 to see if there was a difference and I couldn’t tell any. Wondering if there is a different train of thought with...
I went back to mid grade and noticed a drop in my MPG. I think there is a scientific reason for it. I’m sure someone on here knows why. However it’s a HEMI. Gas mileage will always suck
Although this oil change has brought on an absence of start up lifter tic I used Castrol 5/20 Dino oil. Once I get to 4K I’m gonna dump it and go back to PUP 5/20 and I assume the lifter tic will appear again. Is there any evidence of long term damage from start up lifer tic? Just wondering...
I put dyno oil in last oil change and I will only run that for about 5k miles. After that I may switch back to PUP 5/20 or stay dyno. Not sure yet. Either way 10k or more miles per oil change seems like one of the worst ideas ever. HEMI engines are known to be a little quirky and I just can’t...
Burla to answer your question yes. I kept getting a tapping sound on start up. Tried different weights of PUP and decided on a whim (and since I needed a change) to put in Castrol GTX Dyno 5/20. Only gonna go 5000mi on the change so we will see. I’m 1000mi in.
I know you guys mostly use synthetic, but was wondering if any of you use dyno oil. Reason being is I put Castrol GTX 5/20 in about a 1000mi ago and the start up tap is virtually non existent and it seems to be running smoother. I know I will get blasted for putting in Castril but I’m look for...
No you definitely won’t recoup money, especially where you are. That’s a big difference in price. I guess what I was trying to point out was at least here in VA putting 89 in is not much more expensive in the long run as one might think. I may have done a poor job at it.
Actually I like numbers and money and seeing where my money goes as I get older. So if I average 18mpg on a 20gal full up that’s 360mi. If I average 19mpg that’s 380mi. So if you take the $6 figure above and subtract the current 2.89 price for mid grade so it only costs $3.11 more per fill up...
I have run a few tanks of 87 in the truck and cannot break 19mpg in my 17. I was running 89 “as recommended” and getting 19. I don’t care about mileage that much but if you are trying to squeak out more miles 89 might be the way to go. On a 20gal fill up its $6 more.
