I spent the last few weeks trying to pick out airbags. Anything that went inside the coils seemed too light-duty. The Load Lifter 5000s required cutting/grinding the bumper cup off the frame (no thanks). The Total Load Control seemed great, but it is expensive.

Then I found the Timber Grove ASAM. It installs much like the Total Load Control, but the Ts are brass and seem much higher quality. To top it off, the thing was $383 shipped.

I basically bolted the bags to the bumper cup and the mounting plates on the rear axle. I ran the air line up above the spare tire holder, and installed the valve near the license plate.

So far, so good. You are supposed to keep 10-15 psi all the time, and at 12 psi it lifts the rear end about 1/2". I can post more pics if anyone is interested.

It's nice to hear there is another quality option. Please keep us apprised of your thoughts!

Ooooh I'm about 1/2" nose high after the lift and thought about ordering a bigger rear block. These work on a 2500?

They install by bolting on to the existing factory air suspension brackets, so I'm not sure if they would work on a 2500. They might have a model for a 2500 though. Even 10 psi in the bags makes the rear end much stiffer and bouncier, so I wouldn't try to use it as a permanent lift of more than a fraction of an inch.

Do you have to have them at 10 when unloaded, to keep them from "popping a bead" for lack of better word? Shame that you loose ride quality just to have bags for when you need them.

From what I understand you keep them at 10 so they can act as your bump stops. I set mine to about 8 and they ride much better. I'm going to try 5 too and see how it feels.

I imagine this is the same for any bags that replace the bump stop, whether they are loadmaster 5000s, total load control, or these timber groves. They are all pretty much the same thing. I chose these because they use brass fittings instead of the cheap plastic ones, and they bolt directly on with no drilling or cutting.

Got it, missed the part where they replace the bump stops.

Old thread but i put the timber grove air bags on my 2010 1500 4x4 to level out my 30 ft tt when towing. I chose them because of the bolt on design and the brass fittings. Had them on a little while now. Love them. High quality bags no doubt. I keep 10psi in mine and cant tell the difference from stock ride. 30 psi gives me a stock ride height with my tt. I routed the lines in 3/8 inch heat resistant wire loom and taped up all the fittings to prevent damage from dirt or water etc.

I'm running a group buy for the Total Load Control airbags on another forum. I think my posting was removed as I wasn't sure if I could post it or not but if you are interested, send me a private e-mail. Cost is $329 plus $30 shipping. I'm not affiliated with them, just got a killer deal because we had a group. I have a code you can use until the end of the month.

I looked at all the options too and both the TG and TLC's are no drill, no cutting, etc. and are similar in design (they install where the bumper stops are). TLC's use Goodyear rubber for the bags and the air spring is 9". I like the TG's valves (brass) though.

I know this is an old post, but can these be used to get an extra inch of lift in the rear? I have a 6" lift and am a bit nose high. I also tow a bass boat, so it would come in handy there as well. Just want to know what to expect when not towing

Technically yes. They make brackets for trucks with lifts and keeping a little air in them will lift the rear of your truck.........just be mindful if you are using the bags to “lift” the truck unloaded you might sacrifice a little ride quality.

But that is very subjective anyway

After 3 years these things are still problem-free.

I have since added an Airlift Wireless compressor with presets at 10 and 30 PSI. Now the bags inflate to 30 PSI at the touch of a button when I'm getting ready to tow, and deflate back to 10 PSI when I'm done. The compressor also keeps the bags at a constant 10 PSI at all times (pressure drops when it gets cold...physics).

I only tow a 5000 lb camper a few times per year, but I have zero complaints.

Im probably one of very few but i sold my timber groves after a short period, they worked awesome when towing but empty i just couldnt get a nice ride, low pressure id hit bump that would jolt and feel like it bottoms out, gradual increase in air pressure seemed to just transfer from this to a stiff ride from the air pressure. Couldnd find an in between. Pulled them and reinstalled bump stops and problem gone.

Mines never felt like they bottomed out before, but the lowest I ran was about 7psi.
I normally run 20psi or so.
