Does anyone have an information as to what FCA Emissions recall 67A is and what is involved? Even all my dealer can tell me is that its something with the PCM and would need at least a half day with it. Something doesn't seem right to me.

I am wondering the same as well. I have my 2014 Ram 3500 "modified" and wonder if this will affect it in anyway

I got a notification from Carfax that the recall was on my truck I noticed it was a VB6 expansion, which seems to have been a recall on the 2019 6.7 Cummins for emissions calibration. basically, the PCM is not calibrated to affect the emissions system to reduce pollution correctly. i guess they figured out it affected the 2018s as well?

I am in Texas and the dealer told me that the 67A recall did not appear to be mandatory, except for California, but "recommended" for emissions efficiency. I pull a 40' 15,000 lb 5th wheel RV trailer and asked if the emissions efficiency PCM update "throttled" performance in any way and they couldn't (wouldn't) give me an answer. Before I get this done, I was hoping someone out there more knowledgeable than me (cough"anonymous Ram Mechanic" cough) could chime in ;)

IMO if California requires it everybody else should stay the heck away.

It boggles my mind that the state which inaugurated America's love of the automobile is now trying so very hard to kill them.

If you are happy with the way it runs now why chance it? If ain’t broke don’t fix it. IMHO.

I had my third ABS module replaced on Monday and they did the 67A recall on my 2018 Ram 3500. The service advisor told me it was just an engine update and that it was required. I just learned that Cummins got fined over a Billion dollars for installing a “defeat” device on almost a million 6.7L engines. It looks to me like 67A is related to the fine. I hope performance is not going to be negatively affected by the update but it probably will. Can of worms officially opened. I am going to start a new thread on this issue.

On the RAM Connect App I'm able to download this recall. The wierd thing is its in French from Canada. I translated an exert of it below.

CAMPAIGN 67A
DIESEL ENGINE CALIBRATION
Dear vehicle owner,
FCA CANADA INC. NOTED THAT SOME TRUCKS
RAM 2500 AND RAM 3500 2013 TO 2018 EQUIPPED WITH A
CUMMINS 6.7L TURBO DIESEL ENGINE REQUIRES
A MODIFICATION TO THE SYSTEM SOFTWARE
ANTI POLLUTION.
Your vehicle needs to be repaired for the following reasons:
Your vehicle's engine control module software
needs to be updated with improved calibration for
better emissions control performance.

We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.
cause you and we thank you for the attention you
will bring to this very important question.

I also pull a 5th wheel with mine..10,000#. tows easily but this is my first dsl so nothing to gauge by. I get 19-20 on the highway when not towing so everything seems to be fine.

woops, I see that recall is not for my model year cummins.

I won't be taking mine in for any recall related to this crap. Mainly as it ****** me off to no end that we have an American company being fined billions of dollars by our own government for something their competitors in China and India don't pay any attention to. Who do you think is going to pay that fine? The execs at Cummins won't be, nor will the shareholders, it'll be passed down to the consumer. What is the government going to do with that money? Give it to another country? Invest it in more ways to destroy the U.S. economy?

Just a "Heads Up" My understanding is that in California if you do not have proof of the recall you will not be able to register your truck. You will need to submit proof of the recall with your registration renewal.

That is correct. Just had this happen to my Honda Pilot. They held registration for proof of recall compliance. I lucked out as I got my notice for my 2500 right before this came out. But that does mean I have to be done next year though

I asked a friend about this and he told me since he lives in a Northern County of CA that is not a Smog County, that they won't hold his registration pending proof of recall being performed. He has a 2018 3500 DRW Laramie.

I checked CA website.
If you live in one of these counties, you need a smog inspection when you renew your vehicle registration.

I would expect nothing less from a state that hates any an all ICE...
