At 253k, I finally traded in my 09 1500 4.7 for a 2018 1500 5.7 with the Uconnect 4C 8.4 w/ NAV. I'm all excited to finally have android auto or bluetooth and not have to rely on the aux cable that seems to constantly shift and have issues, only to find the the radio:

- Doesn't see my phone for android auto when plugged in via any USB cable to the ports in the console but does show up in projection settings; just wont connect,
- Sits at "Initializing Bluetooth Please Wait" indefinitely but never shows up in scans on my phone,
- Had two other phones in the paired list, of which I was able to delete one, but the other stays,
- Clearing personal data pauses for about 30 seconds and says it has, but the paired phone remains as do programmed stations

I have tried different ports, cables, clearing personal data, reset, pulling fuse for a while, completely disconnecting battery for a while, etc. Calling UConnect support they state that it is updated to the latest firmware, and I need to take it to dealer.

I really don't want to go the dealer route; is there a way I can get its current firmware and reflash? Is there another known fix? I can only get into dealer/supplier menus; engineering menu doesn't work. Honestly Id have torn it out by now and started picking away at the hardware but mine has the full center console.

You can reflash the current firmware but you have to downgrade then upgrade (if your current firmware is past at least 28.3). I would first go into the settings and perform a factory reset.

So, I did perform the reset in the settings menu, and it did clear some customizations, but the last owners phone persist. From the looks of it Im on 22.32.10...but UConnect support said this was the latest?

Did you buy this truck from a dealer or personal sale?

Used car dealer, fresh trade in. Truck is pretty pristine otherwise; I dont think they would have noticed this.

You are on version 22.66. You can flash strait to 40.1 BUT I would go to 28.3, try the factory reset again then flash to 40.1. PM me your gmail address and I can send you the necessary firmware files to flash.

What version of Android is your phone running? and is AndroidAuto up to date?
I've had issues with Android 10 not liking to connect.
Try deleting any pairings on your phone and then clearing the AA cache and app storage.

Its a Samsung Galaxy S22 running Android 14, latest updates. At some point it did broadcast as "uconnect" which was in the list, but never able to pair. I had deleted it out as well, and havent seen any sign of it in scans again.

I'm using the same phone with the same year radio on 40.1 without connection issues BUT I do have an AA unresponsive to touch issues across multiple AA radios (UConnect 4C and 5 wired and wireless)

Update: With provided firmware I was able to get it to update to 40.1 with no change in behavior.

If anyone knows of any way to force a factory reset, Ill send beer money. Vol + tuner doesnt work, engineers menu isnt present, pulling fuse nor battery cables and letting it sit does nothing. I've attempted exporting user data to modify and reimport via dealers menu, but its all encrypted. I'm at a loss at this point.

You just gave me an idea. I wonder if factory resetting a working radio and giving you the user data from a blank radio to import will remove the phone? If I get a chance I'll send you a file today...

If it does that would be very interesting. I feel like the persistent phone and the bluetooth initilization are related. I know when I first got it, I did see "uconnect" discoverable though it couldnt connect; now I see nothing. I deleted out the second unknown phone between then and now.

I tried to determine what the data might be as it was only like 250kb, and the name of the file seemed similar to tomtom gps export stuff, which I think the panasonic radios may use for their waypoints. Why couldnt it just be as easy as a plaintext .conf and let me do my bidding? Haha

Checking the BCM today, I noticed 2 codes it noted as intermittent. Both show each last tested positively in AlfaOBD.

P1009 - Humidity sensor module
U0147 - Lost communication with telematics gateway

Does anyone know if the telematics gateway has anything to do with bluetooth/android auto? Cell service is working on the vehicle as it does download all packes after an update.

Ive also read something about fuses in the radio itself but cant find definitive documentation on it. Any ideas?

humidity sensor code P1009 is not uncommon.Sensor on windshield goes south easily. Replaced mine and code stayed. Come to find out it was the sensor's ground wire had a crappy ground.

I think I had a comms problem code,too. Just don't remember the code#.

I cant seem to clear the code with alfaobd (or do i need one of those security bypass harnesses im seeing?) I was finally able to shift the services into my name with SiriusGuardian and I know the comms module is good as I can locate, unlock, lock, etc via it. I completely removed the radio this afternoon and let it sit a bit, plugging it back in it did flash the "enter security code" stuff for a half second then disappeared. Im assuming it recognized it was the same vehicle and dismissed itself.

Im at a loss.

AFAIK, any 2018+ FCA vehicle requires a bypass harness to use AlfaOBD. To my knowledge, that includes the 2018 model trucks.
