Hello all. I have a 2015 Ram 1500 Big Horn. The Uconnect 5.0 had to go, so I've installed the Kenwood DDX5707S radio and have an issue I hope someone can help with. I like the radio overall. Not having a physical volume button is the biggest gripe, but something strange is going on. The radio will get stuck. Can't change the station or volume, and it will not shut off. The steering wheel controls do nothing. You can push the "mute" button on the radio face, and it lights up, but the radio still plays....I've pulled over, shut the truck off, removed the keys, and the radio still plays. It is getting power from somewhere... I have to disconnect the battery cable to get it to shut off.
Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Does the radio have power off delay settings? It's possible that it is never receiving the power off delay signal (door open). You could set it to power off immediately (power off with key/ACC) and that may fix the issue .

Thank you for the insight, but how would that alter the fact that the radio freezes on the current input/ volume whilst driving?

Take it back to the shop that installed it. It is either wired incorrect or the radio itself is defective. There is nothing else that would cause the issues you are having.

Like Dean2 stated above. It sounds like it’s defective and/or the constant power and switched power leads are reversed. I believe Kenwood and JVC are the same company and my daughter has a JVC in her Hyundai. It’s also a flaky radio which the manufacturer constantly advised us to “reset” and it would work for a period of time then flake again. Eventually they replaced the unit and no issues since.

It wouldn't. The advice to look into a warranty is a good starting point.

Warranty is long gone. Only fix I have found is to unhook the battery for a couple of minutes. When I reconnect, the equalizer settings are flat lined, but at least the SXM presets are all still there...
Thinking of replacing it with one that has a physical volume knob. Boy i sure do miss that...

For sale - Kenwood DVD player with a mind of it's own... cheap.. :)
