Hi all, new to the forum. 2021 Ram Rebel EcoDiesel, 65K miles. Already paid for the repairs April 5th, but came across a post this morning that said I might have been covered, which led me to this thread...so I thought I would ask that question here. Same old story, heavy rains last few weeks, water got in from rear window, passenger side, fried the RF module and corroded the pigtails. They replaced the RF, 2 pigtails and put in aftermarket window. Truck starts and runs now, but NOW my truck is saying to service the DEF system with 3 EDM codes and a couple radio codes along with a CEL. My question is, should I even pursue the possibilities of my window being covered by the warranty extension from FCA and link it all to the current issues going on now? Nothing was wrong with my truck prior to this water damage 2 weeks ago.

Worth a shot for how much they are charging for this crap. You can go to mopar.com and look up your Vin to see if they have either of the extended warranties listed for your vehicle.

Did you go through Ram for the repair of the rear window? If you did, they should put your VIN in the system and seen if your truck was covered under the extended warranty for the rear glass. But I would still run your VIN and check.

@RamCares

I’m reaching out as my 2020 Ram 1500 Bighorn Crew Cab 4x4 has died and is currently at the dealership. The technician has completed diagnosis and found that the failed CHMSL light and Back Glass leak has DIRECTLY caused the RF Hub module to fail. Again it has ONLY failed due to the water intrusion caused by the CHMSL and Back Glass which are both covered under TSBs 23-098-23 & 23-074-23, the dealership has stated and they are just as confused (service advisor and technician both) that the DIRECT COLLATERAL damaged RF Hub is not covered and I’m going to be hit with close to $700 for the installation and programming. So I’m thoroughly confused as to how Stellantis/Ram can’t understand that the DIRECT COLLATERAL damage of two known faulty parts is not covered. Had the CHMSL and the back glass NOT have been faulty the water would have NEVER entered the truck causing the RF Hub failure hence causing my truck to be dead. Can there be any assistance given to aid in the correction of this and things made right??

This……. I have three leaks around my rear widow and CHMSL and have been waiting over a month for warranty parts. My RF hub has not failed ….yet, ….however I’ve got headliner stains from those leaks…… those stains and possible mold are not covered by the warranty. Like you, I wouldn’t have these problems if but for these leaks . Good on FCA for extending the warranty for these issues but….
A. How could they not also cover the collateral damage caused by the issues in the first place and ….
B. How could they not provide for the supply chain parts to cover the foreseeable requirements…….

It sucks, but if you read the TSBs, it doesn't cover the RF Hub or a new headliner. Did you call Ram Customer Care and explain why the RF hub went bad and ask them to cover the cost?

Yes and I get what the TSB says, however common sense has to apply somewhere! I’m not asking to have a paint chip repaired with the TSB, I’m asking for a direct affected collateral damaged part. IF the other parts didn’t allow water in, well then the hub would be perfect and my truck wouldn’t be stuck at the dealership and it would run, BUT the exact reality is these parts allowed the only water in and damaged this exact part through that water. Not hard to connect the dots here.

I reached out to Ram Care and will see what happens.

The money isn’t the issue, it’s the freaking principle of everything and how “Cause & Affect” means nothing!!

That sucks you’re waiting for over a month, they told me that they will have everything in 4 days. The RF hub tomorrow, 3rd brake is already there and the back glass will be 4 days. Let’s hope that holds true and you get yours quicker!!

Hi all...new to the forum but found it searching for this exact issue. I have the cracks in the back glass and took it to the dealership assuming since I met all the criteria listed in the TSB that all would be good. Needless to say I was wrong and my VIN doesn't fall within the affected VIN's. I've since reached out to Ram Cares but the dealer mentioned the case worker for my area is terrible at best. Have a feeling this is gonna take a while but hoping Ram does the right thing. I did ask the dealership that if all had gone through under the warranty what kind of time frame I'd be looking at and was quoted that the replacement glass was 6 weeks out at best. Seem that if they're that far out on glass that the issue is a little more of a problem than they'd like to admit; just a thought. Frustrating to say the least.

Terrible to hear! Crazy that the TSB is for 19-21 built on or before 9/30/20 and yet so many people are hearing that they don’t fall into that category via VIN! I mean I’m taking it for granted since they said I was good I am but would hate to hear otherwise! Wouldn’t be surprised at all if these TSBs change, I was one of the examples that got the old fuel tank strap TSB changed to NATIONWIDE because I live in VA next to the snow belt states listed as being affected and we get snow and salt here resulting in this failure. I fought with Dodge and won and then a few months later the TSB was changed to anyone in all states.

I also don’t understand how my dealership is stating 4 days for the back glass but the rest of you are getting LONG lead times! Makes me feel like they may be ordering the wrong part or something.

My case manager called me today and not much else other than they are working on it.

I appreciate it and was hoping I wouldn't join the continuously growing club, lol. I wish I would've checked here earlier last year and just replaced the brake light and maybe avoided this whole issue. I did push back on the dealer and ask if they would see if the VIN fell under the third brake light replacement group but got the whole run around that it wouldn't matter as the glass was already cracked. I tried to reason with them that it did matter as that is how the whole thing started. Again just frustrating and insane you have to jump through all the hoops to hopefully get a positive outcome. Hoping Ram Cares comes through but spoke with the rep and I don't have high hopes for him.

It seem based on feedback from the forums and youtube, the VINs that need to be covered are not. Think of all the money consumers are paying out of pocket to replace a defective product.

It seems random which VIN's are included and which aren't. The 2020 Limited we currently have isn't included, but the 2020 Laramie we used to have is included. That's great for who bought that Laramie I suppose, but does nothing for us. :anitoof:

WELL I have an update. So it appears that I was more or less duped by the dealership or more specifically a less than ideal service advisor. Turns out the back glass and third brake light are on back order of “about” 6 weeks. NOW for the good news, called Stellantis and got a case going and they are going to cover everything to include the RF Hub module 100% and I was also given a rental until a decision on which way to go with this can be decided by the dealership. They are discussing installing and programming the RF Hub to get the truck running and back to me and somehow protect it from the leaks until the back glass and third brake light come in. So who knows how this will work out or get resolved, BUT it’s at least moving in a positive direction.

Well finally got an update from Ram Cares and it seems I'm hosed on this one as they'll replace the third brake light but since I don't have the right VIN I'm on my own for the window replacement. Just boggles the mind how I can meet all the criteria except the VIN one. Back window is textbook for the service bulletin but reckon that isn't enough. Have to say Ram Cares is not living up to their name as I still haven't received an explanation on how the VIN's cut-offs were assigned and what the issue was to begin with. Reckon I'll have to hope an adequate dose of permatex sealant and new third brake light can hold the water at bay until I can trade the POS in, lol.

I agree...just doesn't make any sense. My window frame crack looks pretty similar to the one they used in the service bulletin, lol.

Here is my sad story and somewhat final resolution I hope for water leaking at the right upper corner of my rear window. I first sent the vehicle to my local dealer for the leak, told them exactly where the leaks was. They called me later that day to say the ordered a new 3rd brake light assembly and would need the truck another day to install the part. This was in late January or early February. Received the truck after the repair, then went on an trip to Lake Havasu in early March. Came home to find water vapor had condensed on the inside of all my glass. Took pictures for the return trip to dealership for another round of troubleshooting the issue. When I finally was able to get my vehicle back to the dealer on April 8th, they called several hour later to inform me the found the leak. (Exactly where I told them on the first visit). They said they would need to attempt to inject sealant into the area where the leak was, oh and by the way since this was a "glass" issue it was not covered by the 3 year / 36K warranty. This truck is a 2021 with only 12K on the clock. I bought used and was never informed of the 12 month / 12K glass coverage. A Stellantis exclusive loophole. After several days dealer said they were still having an issue stopping the leak. Meanwhile I found the TSB from the forum and mentioned it to the dealer. Their response was by VIN my truck was not covered. Made a claim to Stellantis and stated that I considered this a factory defect and wanted assistance on this issue. After 2 weeks of not having my vehicle they approved a goodwill replacement with $100.00 copay!!! When I got the vehicle back from all the back and forth the slider wasn't working and I had MOLD growing inside the vehicle. Back to the phone I go, they offered to detail the vehicle and found that window installer failed to connect wire harness to rear window. Long story short after my vehicle being at the dealership for over 16 days to repair water intrusion, detailing, I am still requesting warranty extensions for all electronic modules inside the cab of the vehicle and refund of my copayment. BTW, Stellantis is the only manufacturer to consider glass a consumable item and limit warranty to 12 month / 12K coverage. Do not believe the 3 year / 36K warranty statement on the window sticker. I learned a lesson regarding this.............. They closed my case today. I am not finished on this matter.
