Folks, I just wanted to provide an update regarding this topic. Sure thing, since I have been running the 5W-40 I now have zero noise in the lifter area. This truck is now very quiet with no noticeable issues of any kind. I almost have 30k miles on it. Hope all stays good. And I typically...
Folks, thanks. This is interesting conversation. I understand that the XXW oil with the lower number at low or no temperature in the engine is "lighter" (so to speak) and will flow better when cold, but as soon as up to and about operating temperature (looks like between 185 deg and 215 within...
Well heck, we are on the topic. I've read a lot about oil and am no expert (maybe some of you are) so I'd be interested to know more about the details of "cold flow properties" as related to differing oils and why it affects the Cummins. I understand the oil SAE viscosity ratings and have...
Ramsare4real, I had Shell Rotella synthetic, now I have Mobil 1 Delvac full synthetic 5W-40. Just seems to me that there must be something very particular concerning the 15w-40 oil problem it has all the API rating and other qualifications. Would seem that as soon as the truck is at operating...
Folks, I appreciate the responses (except mtnrider, huhuh); The manual does indicate the two different viscosities for different climates, and the bulletin indicates one can run 5W-40 all of the time if desired. Often in vehicles one can deviate some from the recommended oil SAE rating (not API)...
Interesting. I did not see any bulletin. I didn't realize the oil change would be so dramatic. I had previously run 5W-40 until last month when I changed the oil and filter about 3 weeks ago. I will change it back to 5-40 and see what happens.
So, I have a 2022 Ram 2500 diesel and it runs fine and I've noticed no problems. until recently. I have valve train lifter noise on par with my previous 5.7 liter gasoline engined truck. Do these Cummins diesel have, inherently, valve train noise and maybe I just didn't notice it until now? Oil...
Thanks Guys. All thoughtful responses. I appreciate it. Yeah, my normal driving is not up and down the mountains behind my house. The road we took up (in SW desert area) goes from abut 4200 ft to over 8000 ft and and it winds beside the mountain. It probably takes 40 minutes to drive then there...
Folks, I searched fuel economy and found some decent discussions, but not exactly what I am looking for. I have a 2022 Ram 2500 Diesel and it had been getting 18-20 Mpg on my dual in town and on highway driving. I then took the vehicle on a slow ride up a considerably steep mountain trail which...
Hey guys, all good info. I found on my '22 it was easy to pull the air tube that comes from the filter box area. Was able to get in there to the filter, easier.
I'd like to tag onto this one....I am going to change my oil, oil filter, and fuel filter this week. What's a preferred oil, how many quarts, and then also preferred filters? Thanks for any assistance. (6.7 diesel)
Guys,
i searched some old threads and it seems i need about an 8 or 10 inch drop hitch for my 2022 2500 to work best with a 16-20 (or other) foot car hauler (to keep the trailer level)....is that about right? thanks
LouM.
Sp WAS looking at this company's page. Interesting they will make me a cable with Anderson connectors, then I would have to just put the opposite matching on on the winch cables. i could mount the connector under the truck bumber at the back. Have you done this or do you know someone who...
I know this is off topic regarding the vehicle specifically, but I need help. I have a 16 foot car trailer I pull with my RAM 2500. I need an electric winch. It would seem that I could pull power from the unused 4 pin connector (I use the other round one for the trailer lights and brakes)...is...
I do not know you brother, I am relatively new to this forum, but if you can get the Doctor to refer you to get Monoclonal Antibodies, you will not regret it. I had the crap a month ago. It wasn't hard on me but I still got the antibodies anyway....helps alot. Just ask you Doctor for it (you...

I think I understand your point. I went from a 2017 Ram 1500 to a 2022 2500 4 wheel drive...it does drive more like an old big bodied car than a sporty steering truck...give it some time, you will like it.
