My 07 5.9 did not get close to as good of milage as my 13 gets. The disconnecting front axle and the scr systems made a huge difference along with the ram active air box that was all added in the 13+ trucks. I would never own a 07.5-12 6.7 cummins for many reason and fuel milage is one.
Oh and there is a very big difference between the 3500 and the 2500 in ride. the 2500 rides more like a 1500 and the 3500 rides more like a truck, yes it will bounce you over rough roads empty but they can tow just about anything. They are amazing on what they can do.
Yes the 2500 has the rear coils and the 3500's have leaf.
To the OP, for what you are towing get the diesel. here are a few pluses and minuses going with the diesel.
minus;
1) Initial cost is more
2) oil changes is more expensive… but you can go 15,000 miles between oil changes on 13+...
To answer this question just wait till you sell it or trade it in, you will get all if not more of your money back on the cummins. for example I traded my 07 with the 5.9 cummins in and the dealer gave me $30k for it with 120k miles on it and the sticker was only $39 at the time. So i lost $9k...
Check the hose clamps or hoses that don't have clamps from the factory that should. Ill give you an example, my 07 had a coolant line coming right by the cap that didn't have a cap and one day while i stopped at the store i noticed antifreeze dripping on the ground, popped the hood and found the...
Turn it on and drive. the elevation changes will not hurt a thing.
However whenever going on a long trip it is always a good idea to take the essentials because we all know these are machines and machines can break no matter what elevation. When i go on long trips i keep some oil...
A lot of what kills the mega cab for me is the lack of a long bed and the conversion is $10k. As for length my crew cab long bed is actually longer than the mega cab as mine is 169" wheel base and the mega is 160". If Ram made the long bed in the mega id have one. Id do the conversion but...
What i was told is the 6.4 will be in a R/T not a srt 1500. My understanding is there will be no more SRT trucks. SRT is supposedly staying with dodge and supposedly is even being dropped from chrysler as in no more SRT 300. They want to keep the performance to Dodge and that means the viper...
Thats not true, they are actually planning on the 8 speed in the Hd trucks and possibly one for the diesels but that may be down the road. Chances are good it will be a similar transmission as the 68 ref just with 2 more gears. You may even see an 8-speed aisin but i doubt that.
Actually being a new truck the rims should be covered unless they can prove you damaged them somehow. the warranty covers everything from paint to the seats tearing. Reason i know this is my 07 seat tore before the warranty was up and my dealer replaced it. I also had a rim crack on that 07 and...
my dealer told me that at one of his dealer meetings with chrysler that the 6.4 was planned for the 1500 they where just not saying when. Also he told me to expect rear coils on the 3500's but again they didn't say when.
now go compare the king ranch against the laramie limited or laramie longhorns leather. the longhorn and limited has by far the best leather and they use real wood on the steering wheel, dash and doors unlike the fake wood used by ford.
I have the aisin and I absolutely love it. I researched this tranny for a long time before ordering my truck and i can not find any failures with it in the C&C trucks other than poor maintenance. I have talked to people who know trannys and they all told me the Aisin is better than the allison...
If you get def at the truck stop or at certain stations that carry it at the pump you only pay around $2 a gallon for it. My cummins powered 13' runs 5.5 gallons of def about every 5-7k miles so its no issue at all. Im sure the 3.0 VM diesel doesn't burn anymore def than my 3500 with the 6.7...
my truck is averaging around 17 mpg driving to work which is rural/city roads. Highway its getting between 21-22mpg once i found its sweet spot which seems to be 78 mph. Note my truck only has 10,749 miles on it (i know because i just looked before coming in the house lol)
my 07 5.9 averaged...
the power wagon only comes with the CC and short bed. They use the 5 link coil rear suspension. Oh and its only available with the 6.4 Hemi.
BTW good choice and welcome. You will love your Ram and you will see how far they have come in the quality department.
oh another lovely dealer experience.
I need my truck and the only day i have available in the winter time is Saturday so i figured I'd let my dealer do my first oil change knowing how big a pain the factory filter is to get off. I showed up at 8 am as thats the time they open on sat and they...
those are not the key fobs that come with the push button start. mine are just fobs no end shaped like a fat key. just oval fobs. there is a key inside the fobs and they give you two regular keys for the doors thats it. the 14 jeeps also have just the fob like my truck. i just had one in my...
