    Unusual starting problem.

Sounds like my old '98 Dakota R/T when the battery was about to go, it would crank and immediately shut off. The throttle body refusing to cooperate was the first sign. I could keep it running long enough to get home by keeping enough pressure on the pedal so it couldn't idle down and stall...

    Rear end chatter

Hi All, Was making a 90° LH turn from a parking lot onto the street last week, and got some posi chatter. Thing is, it wouldn't quit until I got completely off the throttle and straightened out the wheels. Hasn't happened before or since. Normal? Russ

Accuracy of MPG display in Dash

Does this MPG reading somehow reset itself every time you fill up? I've never seen mine do it, nor have I found a way to reset it by hand. Book says "displays average MPG and/or current MPG". My thoughts are average is a cumulative reading over time - like since day #1 when it rolled off the...

What Rocket Scientist Designed This ?

Yeah, that filter is loco. I've had several rides in the past where the filter was a PIA to deal with. Back then, it was < $100 to add a dual remote filter pad that took full sized FL-1A filters complete with hoses and fittings. I'm too old for that now... :disgust: Russ

What Rocket Scientist Designed This ?

Yup, most vehicle chassis are assembled before the body or bed gets dropped. Mfg'ers are not concerned with the inconvenience of it coming apart again. Russ

    5.7 powered VW Beetle

This one? One of my all-time favorites! Feel free to FF to the driving, this one has a dog ring straight-cut gearbox. Russ

    32 Gallon Tank Upgrade

LOL, if I had a 32 gallon tank I'd be driving around with year-old gas. My 2018 has 3150 miles on it... Russ

    8hp70 shifting issue.

It's even worse when you get off a full throttle run mid-way. The trans gets so confused it doesn't know whether to shift up, down, or hold. Kinda sounds like a ricer with a full-on engine... Russ

    8hp70 shifting issue.

Of all things (2018) RAM, the one single thing I HATE, HATE, HATE is the shifting of my trans. Part throttle is fine, but WOT shifts, worse than rubber bands or hamsters running in a cage, are totally for crap. I am loath to spend $1200 for a new ECM, unlock, and tune just to fix it. Totally...

Anyone Happy with their Battery Tender?

Same here. Hardwired to the battery, 120v pigtail tied off in the grille. I drive into the garage and plug it up to an extension cord. But I also pop the hood and prop it with a 6" piece of 2x4, just as a visual reminder not to hop in and drive off w/o pulling the plug. Russ

what STATION YOU GETTING YOUR GASOLINE FROM (top tier or no)

HEB does a really good job of vetting their food vendors, I'm sure that policy applies to gasoline as well. They're pretty much a "one and done", you mess up once and you're history. Pump bays are always crowded, so their turnover is high, but oddly, I've never seen a fuel truck unloading. Also...

what STATION YOU GETTING YOUR GASOLINE FROM (top tier or no)

HEB, large food market chain local to TX. Huge (fuel) turnover, usually the cheapest prices, 1.3 miles from house, and no surcharge for cc usage. Russ

Anyone Happy with their Battery Tender?

Same here. My '18 RAM's battery "died" twice after not driving it for a couple weeks. Since permanently installing a LEICESTERCN brand tender with that same battery, it's been flawless. I also put one on my zero-turn after it suffered a sluggish start one time. Russ

New respect for SuperGlue when mixed

Back when I built RC models, they used to sell a product called micro balloons which was a white powder you'd mix with epoxy resin and use as light duty bondo. Supposedly tiny hollow spheres, they were too small to tell really, but a butter-sized tub might have weighed an ounce at best... Russ

    Furl filling issue

It's about time for the switch to winter-blend on the gas. Refiners are allowed to add more butane to increase volatility and reduce light-off time. Russ

    Heated Steering Wheel DownGrade

Amen to that! 69 here with L3, 4, & 5 discs almost non-existent. I'm 20 miles off the Gulf Coast, my seat heaters are on even when the heat index is 115°. Wish they'd offer a dual-zone seat heater so my buns aren't getting toasted, oh and a lumbar massage option... Russ

Am I missing something with Android Auto?

That's about as sorry a business model as BMW charging monthly subscriptions to keep certain options activated. No pay, no heated seats. To stay on topic, we had nothing but problems with AA on the wife's Caddy. Mainly, it pulls my phone battery down so hard I have to keep it plugged in. Even...

Can i somehow get mine out of derate?

Hard to imagine someone with this attitude even owning a RAM! I could see being overly bent about environmental impact if every vehicle owner was wanting to mod their truck, but in reality, there *may* be ~ 1% willing to do it... Russ

    Oil change Percentage

OTOH, a yearly oil change is cheap insurance against the all those unknown variables and cheaper than sending the oil off for testing. I change the oil in my zero-turn every year even though it runs < 15 hrs vs the recommended 100 hr change period. Same with our Generac, yearly whether it needs...

    Oil change Percentage

Three Hemi Error codes that just don't make sense - Help needed!

With my '98 Dakota R/T, I always got a warning that the battery was about to take a dump. Everything would behave normally. including startup, but the IAC motor would stick shut. Those couple times I had to drive home from work feathering the throttle so it wouldn't die in traffic. Russ
