I used to have this same unit, upgraded from my RES. Sold it shortly after because i thought it wasn't necessary to have and impulsively did it. Regretted it every day since... I'm very interested. I am unfamilliar with lock pick. Can you tell me what that does for this?- paulycoppola5

what he said ^ Compression ratio, TIMING, spark plug heat range, and engine operating temp are some of the main factors to octane requirements. A motor with 10.5 to 1 and iron heads can run terrible on 89 when a motor with 10.5 to 1 and aluminum heads could potentially run fine on 89...- paulycoppola5

Fuel up here is as follows, as far as I know: NYS requires all gasoline to be 10% ethanol and prices near me (Albany, NY) are 4.11 for diesel 3.65 for 87 3.89 for 89 and 4.22 for 93...
