Timbren or sumo springs guys? I've been using my truck for some heavy stuff lately and I don't want to drive like a squatter.

I have not used Timbrens and I don't have a Ram 1500 (mine is a 2500) but when I used to have a GMC Sierra 1500 I used the Sumo Springs and liked them very much. I suppose it depends on what problem you are trying to solve. My GMC was towing the travel trailer I had at the time very well, with the exception that when I unexpectedly went over a big bump on the Interstate, the rear of the truck would bounce alarmingly and would bottom out. I was not over payload or any other limits. I think the problem was the rear suspension just too soft. The Sumo Springs fixed that right up. Basically there was a decent sized gap between the Sumos and the frame of the truck during normal driving and even when towing. They only came into play in those big bump scenarios.

I've always preferred airbags as you can maintain your nice soft ride when you aren't carrying heavy. HD springs and driving an HD truck is kind of a PITA from a comfort standpoint. Timbrens would also work I suppose.

I have the heavy duty timbrens on my 2500hd and they work perfect. Even when I take out my slide in camper I leave them on and handling is fine. Overpriced for what they are but simpler than air bags.

I'm also going to vote for actual airbags. The AirLift 1000s are great and a super easy install, but I'm not a huge fan of them rubbing on the springs all the time. I'm going to order the 5000 kit soon to install on my '17, I enjoy how my truck rides unloaded so I don't want to do the heavier springs or Timbrens. They're completely separate and can handle more weight than the truck can (I'm an overkill kinda guy lol).

Air Lift 5000, Airlift 1000 are junk, specially on lifted truck. Mine didnt even last 2 years. Dont forget the appropriate spacers for the bags.

Also ran Timbrens for 5 years , never had issues with them

You're in the 5th gen, you may find more information in the 4th gen section, if you do a search you will get results. And wouldn't worry about being a squatter so much as more about the potential for damage to your ride depending on how far over your payload capacity you are. You may get level but all that weight still transfers to your frame and other suspension/drivetrain components. Good luck

Ya I saw a pic of them blowing out of the spring when inflated and questioned it haha

Ran the 1000's in two different trucks from 2014 to 2021. Never had an issue with them. People that do are using them wrong by over inflating them. Only need about 20-25 PSI to firm up the rear of the truck, and you inflate them after your hooked up with WDH. Then run them at 5 PSI for normal driving, never know they're there.

This is what I have always used for my 1500 Rams and they work great for towing trailers with reasonable amount of weight
