I've got 16" rims on my truck. I was wondering if anyone has made the switch to 17" rims. If so, will any 17" stock dodge rim with 5 studs fit?

I think all rams except Cummins have the same pattern. Might need spacers for front wheels to get over the grease cap.

Well 1500 are the same? I've got 20's from a 13 in my shed that fit. And I used to have 03-04 20's.

Offset is the same on same chart.

Where I live, we get a lot of snow, so I'm thinking an extra inch or two will make a lot of difference in terms of clearance. And I think 17" will offer a better ride than 16" rims too.

Wouldn't 17" rims have an inch more diameter than 16" rims, and hence lift the truck 1' higher?

And I thought that larger tires offer a better ride, especially on bumpy roads like we have in Canada.

No....Once you go up in a wheel size, the aspect ratio on the tire goes down. So say you're going from a 265-75/R16 wheel and tire to a 265-70/17 wheel and tire.....the size will be same within about a quarter inch.

So, the 17 inch tire will have less sidewall than the 16 inch tire.

I didn't know that the aspect ratio generally goes down with larger tires. I come from motorcycles, so I'm learning more everyday about trucks. Thanks.

Its because the second number is the % of sidewall compared to the width of the tire. Bigger wheels means less sidewall compared to the same size tire with a smaller wheel.
