1999 dodge ram motor swap help

Good morning everyone, I’m looking to get some info on anyone who is currently on this forum. I have a 1999 dodge ram with a 318 V8. I am trying to swap to a third GEN 57 hemi motor. Just looking for any general information, any electrical information they can give, and if anyone has done it. Please feel to reach out!

Motor is a dog. I have it chipped, header, air intake, Ignition unit, throttle upgrade. All really don’t make it much better. I even have a brand new rear end with a new gear ratio. Plus it has a sealed blown head. Still runs great. Just a little luggy.

Would you not also have to swap out the transmission? Didn't the third-gen Rams switch to a 5-speed automatic? If so, I'd be surprised if the PCM for a 5.7 Hemi would operate a 46re, neverminding the fact that the two probably wouldn't bolt together without an adapter plate or something.

Regarding your current mods, a lot of aftermarket "chips" are snake oil that don't really do anything. I've got basically the same mods, only an SCT tune, and the engine has far more get-up-and-go than it ever did stock.

Less work to swap in a 360. Don’t have to change harness ,plug and play.
