Can't separate the drive shaft from the differential carrier.
Worried about either cracking the yolk of diff housing.
Got the 4 bolts out.
Tried pb blaster and some hammer rapping. Yolk seems pretty malleable so I seem to be risking the bolt hole shape.
Tried a chisel around the outside
Even took the risk of trying to lift on the yolk with a steel bar across 2 ears and floor jack. Decided that was a good way to break more expensive parts.
Short of putting it in gear and letting the engine torque free it up.. I'd prefer alternatives.
Meantime I'll go back to tapping.
BTW what is the weight of the long (8ft bed) drive shaft?
