A tune and replace the clutch fan with an electric fan will boost power and mpg.

I owned one of them gas hogs, it never saw a gas station it didn't like, outside of spending $$$ for a good tune that most likely will not pay you back, your best bet is control your right foot, proper air in the tires, watch your speed, no jack rabbit take off's, don't race stop light to stop light....

You want to increase mileage and torque? That's a tough one. If you install a turbo, your torque will increase but when you make use of said torque, your visits to the gas station will increase. TFL Truck have tested lots of trucks towing trailers up the Ike Gauntlett and the V8s always suffer compared with the diesels. Having to scream up a mountain at 4 or 5000 RPM is not much fun

Torque? Cam & retune. Mileage? It will never, ever get better than what it is. You have a small block pushing 245/335 trying to drag 4800-5300 lbs around. More mechanical advantage (gears) would be better around town but lower your mileage significantly on the highway (and vice versa with taller gears).

Yeah, getting rid of the clutch fan is about the only MPG gaining modification.
