I need help here please. I Have a 2015 5500 ram fleet package with the 6.4 himi and the ansni tranz. I seem to get decent gas mileage
8-10 mph on flat hwy and it seems to drive fine but going up hill it has no torque for pulling. I'm getting anywhere from 6 to 6.5 miles per gallon uphill. And on a steep slope like by hoover dam it was going 30 miles an 4000 RPM. Towing 4000 pounds plus 7000 pounds trailer. Is this possibly a fuel filter issue a computer issue or is it just the fact that I'm running a gasoline mutter doing a diesel motor's job.

Sounds like someone believed what the salesman said about how much better the Hemi is and and how its some how better then a Cummins except then it comes to towing fuel mileage & going up a grade loaded... IMHO yes you need a Cummins in that 5500..

No i know not to beleive pretty much anyone outright. The 5500 was the only one around when i had to get it. So i got it i just didnt think it would cost 800 to go from Az to Sparks.

The 6.4 is a small block gasser, and it needs RPM to get it done. I pulled a toy hauler with my 2015 that was saddled with the 66RFE trans, and scaled at 23,160 lbs. It was working hard, and had to really wind out. I averaged about 7.5 mpg pulling at 65 mph. Elevation really makes it wheeze, being normally aspirated.

Bottom line: if you want to have relaxed, steady towing up hills, and easy, stress free descents coming down the other side there is nothing, repeat NOTHING like the Cummins.
