Alright guys just ordered the flex a lite 183 fan today will be installing his week as soon it arrives. For those that have done this mod did you also replace the thermostat to a 180 degree? And what startup temp is a good setting on the electric fan with a 180 thermostat. I live in southern Arizona I see mostly very hot weather. Right now I have a 203 oem tstat however I found this thread on ramforumz where someone did a write up about using a 2003 Hyundai 180 thermostat and simply adding a rubber gasket from the 203 stat. I found this to be a neat mod thread because going this route would mean buying a $12.99 thermostat compared to $35 jet performance thermostat. Heres the link to the thread:

HHP 180 Degree Thermostat & Gasket - 5.7L & 6.1L HEMI Engines jet 10183 heres one for under 35. Id rather use the right parts either way than save a few bucks. Less room for failure. Their website describes fan settings as well. Its specified for a diablo tuner but gives you an idea.

Edit: I read the post after the fact and it seems to me he says its the same tstat as we need for our truck. Its a little vague on that but he says you need to use the old gasket from your 203 or replace with a new one if necessary.

Need to figure out what your highway cruise temperature is and then set the efan to come on only during traffic and not at cruise. I cruise at 188 degree's and have my efan set to come on at 200 and off at 190. That way it's only running when actually running at higher temperatures. I also have a manual over ride switch that I can turn on the fan at any temperature. Plus I have an alert that comes on at 203, just get my attention. Good luck..

I installed the Flex-a-lite 183 E Fan kit on my 07' and I installed the Jet 180 T-Stat at the same time. I adjusted the controller to the center position and it runs fine. This is a great combo. The photo is my factory t-stat as it fell apart on removal.
