So I was in the middle of moving from bc to alberta when I started smelling something burning and was hearing a squealing sounds. So I pulled over in the middle of nowhere and popped the hood and see this... The pulley still spins freely but I can hear the bearings, they sound sick haha. No one has a replacement pulley and clutch right now, it will take 3 days to get one but they only issue I have is on Monday I need to drive my truck North for 2 weeks :(

I tried but can't seem to find the right length, also do you route the belt the same way, minus the ac?

There is an AC delete pully kit out there that you can get for your truck. I had to do that when my dads AC pulley bearings did the same thing. The kit will come with everything you will need to take the AC compressor out of the truck until you can get it repaired.

How about a salvage yard to piece something together for a temporary fix.

Dumb question, but is it just the inner clutch thats fried? Or does it do it even if you unplug the compressor?

If I remember right the trucks use a 7 groove belt and there are also 6 groove belts, maybe he can short belt it using a belt with less grooves. I couldn't find the right length belt when I did UD pulley and used the car belt instead.

Well I got to Edmonton and my wife drove me up a new to me compressor from a auto wreckers, looks to be in good shape. I swapped it out last night and only took 30 mins start to finish, put some freon in and ran some cycles to make sure it was good. All in all it worked out good for $200. Now to clean all the burnt rubber off of my engine :( thanks for the advice

After I took my belt off last night and ac pulley almost fell off, a good inch or so play each way! My wife saved my but!, I'm still going to keep a close eye on it for a while just to play it safe. It ran fine for me this morning, no grinding, no smells, so time will tell. I'm going to pull the pulley off and keep the compressor as a spare
