I need to clear a headlight BMC code and one for the AC compressor as well. I have AlfaOBD and OBDLink MX. I can read the codes and I click the "clear codes" button, Alfa says to make sure the key is on without the engine running, I ckicl "OK," and they don't clear. I've had BCM issues before that the shop has cleared for me, but it costs $60.00 each time they do that. Do I need the bypass cable to clear codes?

2006 Ram 3500 5.9. No left headlight and no AC compressor.

Is an "active code" one where there is still a problem? With the headlight code, there is no problem with the wiring, the light itself works fine in the other side, and I did not have the lights on when I was trying to clear the code. So what's the difference between an active and inactive code?
