I think I fell more in love with my truck after this drive to Pittsburgh from Charlotte. For a truck I really can't believe how comfortable it is, quiet and how it handled many different forms of inclement weather. She's a little thirsty especially once I got fuel in Norther WV, dropped to 13mpg from 14mpg at 75-80mph. The hills obviously killed it but still that winterized fuel sucks! Two different stations and it blows. And she's filthy!!!

Here's the results from my trip this past weekend to Pittsburgh. Not bad avg mph considering I was driving through the mountains with winter fuel and the driving through Pittsburgh/Mount Washington which is nothing but steep climbs in 2-3 gear. Other than my washer fluid freezing had absolutely no issues for the trip. I do want to change these OEM tires out as they suck in the wet ****.

I'll be doing the seats this weekend and once I get the correct switch panel with the options I need I'll get it flashed for them as well as updates from the dealer. The weather isn't cooperating for the full detail so when I install the seats I'll be cleaning the inside nicely an wash/clay/wax the outside. Once I know I have a free full weekend I'll do the swirl remover/polish/seal procedure. Also got the right size LeD for the fog lights which will be done today. Need to find a shop for the flowmaster install.

Another update! I tuned the truck to the 93 tune and changed a couple parameters and it's a ton better. Looking forward to seeing what an intake and muffler/exhaust does with this combo. I'll give more details on the 6.4 HD thread.

Also, since my trip to Pittsburgh my truck was obviously filthy and I didn't want the salt sitting on there til the temp came up so I sprayed it down good and ran thru auto wash. Well, big mistake! My paint is pretty scratched wth even more swirls. I knew this was a possibility and likely but rather get salt off and buff out swirls then anything else. Gave her a nice wash today and took some shots with the sun to show you all the type of damage car washes do...

Knowing I don't have time to do a full high speed with sealant, it pays off to have a good quality wax and orbital to help cover up these imperfections. This was the results...

Chemical Guys butter wax applied with orbital with terry bonnet, 15 min cure and removed with microfiber bonnet by orbital. Looks great for little work. With good chemicals you can help cover a lot of imperfections. Granted they will come back it'll keep me somewhat happy for now. Now I hate seeing cars with these shinny wet looking tires, it's terrible. I've become quite a fan of Chemical guys products as they're affordable with great results. Their VRP for tires is awesome. Also cleaned the wife's car and gave it VRP treatment

It'll be interesting to see how long this wax lasts with a week of rain. Exhaust will be done this next for sure and looking forward to aFe releasing their intake next month, per an email response.

As Mike Phillips says, find a brand you like and use it often. Good job on the cover up

It'll be short lived but at least I'll be able to live with it for now. They are terrible swirls and scratches now.

If you have time this weekend and good weather, get outside and do some correcting

Quick update, took the truck in this past Monday to have the 3rd brake light replace and they used a new type of seal cause mine was like a river letting water in. They found it was warped and seal failed. My truck was also due for three updates, PCM, ABS and the radio, so I returned my tune back to stock. I took this opportunity to drive this whole week on stock tune to see the differences and it's clear the trans tune from factory sucks. The throttle boast definitely helps and changing shift points under partial throttle is also a big help. Mileage didn't change at all running same fuel from same station and same routes everyday.
Also I decided to ditch the 20s and go down to a 17". In ordering Method NVs with Nitto Ridge Grapplers 35x12.50. While at the dealer, they adjusted tpms so that is also a decent change in ride. Hopefully I'll have time to detail the truck this weekend as it'll be nice out. Still can't find a shop to help with muffler install, may have to purchase everything myself and bring it in.

This is the look I'm going for...

f7a4b51f2ef7dbc10eb73ac28d9e844d.jpg

This has a three inch lift and 37s so I feel stock rise height and 35s will be similar. Worry a bit about the 0 offset but we shall see. Also will be getting OEM flares and have mud flaps that will be trimmed to make sure everything clears. More soon...

That's a nice setup if you go that route.

I don't want 37s yet so that's why I'm not lifting yet. When my 3/36 is done I may regear to 4.30/4.56 but for now I think 35s will look good. It'll have a similar look to this one. Just waiting on the wheel guy to confirm these won't take forever to arrive. They've had issues with method taking a month

Ya I was originally ordering some fuel octanes but they were like 2 month waiting period...why I ended up with my motos.

The 35's will still look good for sure.

Haven't updated this is awhile! I did get the paint correction done and posted another thread but here's some pics...

After that a grabbed some used BORA 1.5" wheels spacers and added them

This is all in preparation for my next set of plans. Yesterday I added the HBS 2" level and Bilstein 5100s. Install went easy but I really can't stand sway bar links and tightening the top shocks bolts!

I have a 1" spacer for the rear that I'm deciding whether I want to add or not. I'm doing spacers and Bils for right now til I decide what tires I want and what size then I'll go for Carli set up. Figured I'd do it cheap first and once I get the look I like I'll step up. I'll add the Bils to the rear today cause I can definitely feel a difference with the fronts. I also have cabin air filter, tuffy security console and Ram mud flaps to add here soon. I may do a full color match on mirrors, door handles and mud flaps and flares. I'll also be chopping of the resonator in the rear and adding a black tip. As for tires, I really love the black appearance Package wheels so I'll probably keep them for awhile but can't decide between 35s and 37s. 37s are only slightly heavier than 35s and look a ton better in 20s than 35s in my opinion. I'll be making my decision in next few weeks. Any opinions on 37s and adding the rear spacer to get some more height?!

Chopped the resonator off and put a MRBP black tip on. Wanted a 18" one but got the 10" instead as I couldn't justify $150 for an exhaust tip! Glad I did cause it's not noticeable and looks good as well

Should have done this awhile ago cause it sounds a ton better. Nice deep sound with the Flowmaster 50HD.

Got my 37x12.50 Cooper STT PROs installed yesterday, saved the clean pictures for here (have a thread regarding the tires). Gave her a wash using Optimum No Rinse for the first time and I'm blown away at the simplicity especially with the synthetic clay mat. Super easy and no need to worry about water spots, lots of water everywhere and drying hassle.

Super happy with the results of the tires and wash. I'm curious to how much better the wash and wax is so that'll be my next experiment.
