Just wondering if any Hemi guys are going 10K miles between oil changes...if so, what oil and filter combo are you using and under what conditions do you drive? Just curious...thanks!

IMO if you plan on doing 10,000 you should absolutely do UOA to make sure its safe with your truck, oil choice and driving habits.

I use pennzoil ultra platinum 5w20 with a fram XG10060 ultra synthetic oil filter. I usually change the oil when the oil life goes to zero which is usually 8000 to 8500 miles.

I will be running 10k on mine with PUP 5w-30 which is much more often that I have ever done in the past. I drive 25-30k miles a year and have been doing annual oil changes for the last 15 years on regular bulk oil.

I usually do 6k changes, just because I want to. I once accidentally did 10k on the wife's 2014 Grand Cherokee (which has a Hemi) when I got busy and forgot until it started telling us to change the oil. Out of curiosity, I sent it in to Blackstone labs. Came back fine, and they advised me to try 12k next time.

That was Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 5w-20, Wix XP filter.

I have since switched to Amsoil after Pennzoil's price hikes on their Ultra Platinum. I always debate switching back when I see it on sale on Amazon, as they are usually pretty good sales when they happen.

12,000 miles on my Amsoil SS 5/20 with Amsoil filter. Tested it at 9,400. 10k oil changes is definitely doable and becoming the norm in the industry.

I'm doing 9k miles changes on my 2013 hemi with 90k miles. Just send to Blackstone few months ago and they confirmed that it's in excellent shape and I can try 11k..

RedLine 5-30 with royal purple filter.

I'm normally around 8-9k when I change it. Redline 5w30 with whatever synthetic filter they have in stock. Usually either Royal Purp or Fram Ultra synthetic. I'm at about 7k now. Just ordered a blackstone kit. Never done one before but figured might as well since I'm close.

Not me. And I’m even under warranty for the life of owning my truck. I guess it’s just partly a little bit of old school-ness but while having a little bit of mechanical background, I just can’t wrap my mind around change intervals on anything over 7,000 miles, I don’t care what that OLM says so mine gets changed every 6,000 to 6500. And that’s even on the PUP 5-20 and Wix XP filter.

I guess maybe those folks who run the Redline 5-30 and RP filter can get away with that since that oil has way more moly and zinc in it than most oils but for anything less than that, I wouldn’t advise it, personally. Changing your oil a little more often pretty much guarantees you’re not stretching your oil too far. And with all the talk of so many issues being said about the hemi tick and cam/lifter problems, I wouldn’t take that chance unless you’re running Redline. Just my opinion.

UOA's set the interval, everything else is an uneducated opinion. For those w/o di turbo's, adding a calcium supplement such as bg moa at the 7500 mark, will likely get your tbn to a 10k interval or at least be a little insurance that doesn't carry risk. My personal truck with redline 5w30 and a RP filter had over 3 tbn left at 10k miles, but that is not to say yours will. Kyle's truck despite having redline was low tbn under 5k miles. So oil brand does not matter when compared to individual trucks.

I do anywhere from 3500-6500 miles, just because I can. Currently have RP filter, some 5-20 and one quart 0-30 Redline.

Why so often? I view towing my boat (about 11-12k combo) @ 70+ mph, over the Appalachians twice and 1800 miles one way as fairly extreme. So I change it before and after the trip even though it might only be 2 weeks old.
The long changes are generally a little bit in town and the rest @70-85 mph across a good part of the country - while this is easier on the oil I still prefer to not push it since this truck has to last me forever.

Tried half 5-30 pennz blend and half 5-20 and it caused a buck on cold start - truck does sit for weeks on end without starting. It doesn't do it using 5-20 or 5-20 with one quart 0-30 or 5-30. Pretty sure it has to do with the initial VVT sweep.

PUP 0w40 every 5k, all is good. Blackstone lab reports show strong additives still in the oil, but the 6.4 sheers the 40w oil quite a bit.
