I am replacing the Firestone Trans Force tires that came on my ‘18 2500 4x4 Laramie diesel. They lasted 36000 but were noisy and left marks on every driveway I drove into. I am replacing them with Michelin 295/60R/20 Defender LTX M/S. There is a National back order on 285/60R20 (my original size) according to several dealers here so I went slightly wider since they were available. Curious if anyone is familiar with these tires on their 2500’s. I pull a 5th wheel and and/or drive to Ca occasionally, not a daily driver. Had Michelin tires on my F150 for years before I traded up! Thanks in advance for any input!

I have the E load rated, stock size Defenders on mine. They have better traction than the Firestones especially on wet pavement. My Firestones lasted 57k miles which surprised me, but I do mostly interstate driving. New Defenders will feel a little squirrely on grooved pavement, but that'll wear off. I have had no problem towing my 5er with either tire.

I had Michelin's predecessor to the Defender on my 2001 half ton and had no problem with them while driving around Clark and Nye counties or even the Mountain Springs Summit in December, but it wasn't icy then.

Thanx for the response. I still had about 3-5k miles available on the tires but worked a pretty good deal through cyber Monday and the set rebate. Went with the 295’s so we’ll see. We drive in the same areas I see, Ret LE in LV. Stay safe!

I've used those Mich's for years and years on all our trucks, and currently have them on my 18 2500 Ram. Great tires. Long wearing, quiet and great traction. I lived in MN for 35 years and ran them up there too. Very good winter performance.

I have had great luck with the Michelin’s on my 2015 2500. First set of Firestone’s wore out after 36k and second set were dangerously squirrelly on wet pavement after 20k. Coopers would not balance with 10oz of weight.

Switched to Michelin’s and never looked back. Ride smooth, balance with little weight, wear to 50k+ and gave excellent wet traction all the way to the end of life.

I’m running 295/60x20s on my 2500 but have the Nitto G2s on for the winter. I was gonna do the Michelins for the summer months, but ran across a set of new take offs Firestones for a great price. My originals lasted to 60,000 miles and still had some tread left. Oh and yes, they suck when it’s a wet road. Just drive accordingly.
Next time I’ll go with the Michelins in the 295 size.

I have the Defender's on mine, stock sizes. Would not run any other tire. I pulled the Firestone's off thought they were about the worst tire I ever had. When my Durango tires go, I will be putting the Defender's on it as well. I think for a truck, SUV, etc., these tires are hard to beat. Had them on my Commander Hemi Limited as well. Get them at Costco or Discount Tire on sale.

Defenders are my go to tire. My 2500 is my daily driver and work truck 3 days a week carrying light loads (2-14 hours each way)...... I will never run anything else, Michelin Defenders are the best all around tire in my opinion. I normally wait until BJ's or Costco has a $150 off a set of 4 deal, cant beat the lifetime free balancing, rotations and road hazard warranty.
