I've had this rattle for a couple of months now and finally pinpointed it. It's the latch on the centre arm rest, it rattles when I go over the slightest bump, sounds like two pens clanking together really fast. I've tried to tighten the latching mechanism but nothing has worked so far.

Did some google searches and found worse rattles in other, newer vehicles (apparently the new silverado ltz's are 50k rattle cans) but I wanted to know if anyone has come across this and has fixed it?

The interior in the picture isnt mine but that's what mine looks like exactly.

Had the same thing on mine - I took two of those felt sticky-backed pads for cabinets and put them on the corners where the protrusions are - noise is gone on mine.

You can also put those felt pads on the bottom part of the console where the latch goes in. I've had a lot of success doing that on customers vehicles.

I did that, wrapped it around the metal part where the latch comes down and clasps on. Didnt stop the ratte unfortunately. Thanks for the tip either way. I gotta go in to the dealer tomorrow to get my CV boot shafts replaced, i'll have them check it out.

On the bottom of my lid, there are two little "nubs" sticking out, I put the felt right underneath them

I have a 2013 Ram and the armrest latch rattled. I took it apart today and fixed it using a price of felt. There are 4 screws holding the armrest lid to the base. Once it's off the inner plastic cover is held in place with plastic tabs. I just used the yellow nylon tool you see in the pic to pry it off. What I found was the bottom of the latch hook contacts the metal latch base. I put a piece of self adhesive felt between them and it solved the problem.

Here's the latch. You can see the black felt on the right side of the latch. 20151128_114852_zpstbhd80nz.jpg

Here are pics of the armrest open so you can see the tabs.

I thought I had the "lid rattle", but mine is only happening with a passenger in the front seat. No passenger, no rattle?!!! Sounds like it's coming from where the radio plate meets the floor console, but the butt in the seat causes it. Damn if I can find it!

I noticed a rattle coming from the front passenger side today. When I got to work, I pushed the passenger seat forward & back a few times, and also pushed the seat belt height adjuster up & down a few times. No rattles on the drive home :D

Console lid rattled like a sonofabitch in my 09, 13 and 14. Ended up taking the lid off the armrest, popping the cover off the underside and investigating. Ended up, the little triangle shaped cam right beside the latch that kept the lid from opening if the armrest was in an upright position was causing my rattle. I ended up shoving a piece of small zip tie in behind it to keep it from moving. I have done the same thing in all 3 of my Rams and each time it made that annoying, incessant rattle coming from the armrest lid go away.

I hadn't seen this post before but I had the same annoying rattle and finally figure out where it was coming from. I used felt pads as others have mentioned and it stopped the rattle.
