I apologize in advance if this doesn't belong here. I'm wiring bed lights into my truck, and I have the harness run out of the front left side of the bed. Directly underneath, there is a ground cable that appears to come from the fuel fill neck. Would it hurt anything to ground my lights to the same stud? Wire in question is in the pic.e7590e8dec7bf84a7f581e68fbddb868.jpg

Any clean bolt that’s on the frame itself will work perfectly. When your done, put some inhibitor on it.

so ... what if you use that ground and over tighten and the stud breaks. Can they be replaced or do you have to drill a new hole and use a nut and bolt?

Did this happen to you or do you "know a guy"?

Personally, IF that were to happen, I'd abandon the stud in place and go to some other option.

This happened to me last night. I was wiring my 3rd brake light for my cap and used that as a ground. I didn't know if those studs were threaded in on pressed to the frame.
