I’ve been reading post and trying to get a handle on what I wanna do to my 16’ Laramie. It’s a crew cab 4x4 with a short bed and 5.7. My stock Goodyear SRA’s are needing to be replaced and I want to beef up the stance a little bit. So my question is with Bilstein in the front and 275/65/20, what setting should the Bilsteins be at for a level? I don’t tow or off road. It’s my daily driver but I do have to deal with snow in the winter. Any thoughts or pictures of this set up is appreciated. Thanks!

@Goldencracker, when parked on (more or less) level ground, measure from bottom of your tire where it touches the ground to the top of the wheel well, front and back. The difference in those measurements is how much extra rake, or extra lift, your rear end has over your front. From there all you need to know is how high do you want to crank the front up by. Keep in mind, their estimates (0, 0.7, 1.4, 2.1, 2.8 inches) are approximate. For example, I put mine to 2.1" on the front, but I ended up only getting about 1.8" out of it. Lucky for me I wanted a TINY little bit of rake left over, so that worked for me.

Here's my set up now with 285/70R17 Cooper Discoverer ATPs on 17"x8" wheels. As you can see, it's hard to tell it has much rake left anymore. And to tell you the truth, once you get to within about 0.5 inch of rake left, it starts "looking" level regardless.

Thanks for that info. What about UCA’s? I’ve heard that 2” and under is probably ok but over that it’s a good idea to upgrade them. The stance you have is about what I’m looking for.

IMHO unless you're going to do a lot of hard wheeling or going up to 2.8 on the shocks I think your UCA's are fine.

Here's mine with the Bilsteins set at 2.8" with 275/60/20s. It sits dead level even though the second picture makes it look a tad nose high. Each truck is different, some sit level at 2.1, some need 2.8. I plan to run either 275/65 or 285/65s for the next tire

I also went with the Rough Country forged UCAs. They're 2-300 cheaper than anyone else and corrects the BJ angle. I don't wheel this truck, the most offroad it'll see is my property or a forestry road so I didn't feel like the more expensive JBAs or anyone else's were worth the money

5100's all around & fronts set to 2.1" raised, and all on stock springs and stock UCA's. This pic is when I was on LT285/65R20 BFG KO2's last summer.

I'm now on LT295/65R20 Michelin Defender LTX M/S and still have no rubbing issues whatsoever, and can turn full stop-to-stop with no issues either.

She was sitting nicely higher on the BFG's, but with this bigger tire now, I'm sitting a tad bit higher and like it more. Lots of room to go over curbs now ;)

5100's gets most people close to level at 2.1, usually there will be slight rake. 2.8" seems to usually look a little high in the front. At 2.1" as long as you dont off road you should be ok with stock UCA's. If you off road or want to go to 2.8" I highly recommend angle correcting UCA's.

Feel free to message me for a quote

18 CC, I have 5100’s all around with fronts at 2.1 with 275/65 20’s. Stock type UCA’s as I was given a set of new Mevotechs and to me they seem a lot better built than OEM. I have a 6 cylinder so it’s a few hundred pounds lighter than the hemi. Still have about 3/4 inch of rake and I do take my truck on forestry roads, logging roads and anything that’s not too extreme when I go camping/hiking. Zero issues in the two years they’ve been on the truck.

your ride looks nice, pretty much exactly what I’m looking for. Did you leave your rear OE? And did you do new UCA’s?

I was converting from air suspension so I had to install a completely new system all around. The fronts are set at 2.1” and I didn’t install new UCAs as I don’t do any off-roading and I was told the stock UCAs would be fine at 2.1. I forgot to mention I also went with a rear towing spring that is 1” taller. I’m not sure of the make of the rear spring as I got it in a kit from Airdelete.com. The shocks are Bilstein 5100s. Going up 2.1 in the front and 1” in the rear there is still a slight rake which I wanted because I tow 6500 lb boat/trailer occasionally.
