This little bolt fell and rattled its way to the bottom of the flywheel bell housing when I pulled an old bad starter off my '99 quadcab (automatic trans).

Flywheel teeth looked ok on visual inspection, rotated through all of them.

Anybody know where this bolt came from, and how hard is it to put back ??

Bolt info: 9/16 hex head, 5/16 dia threads, 24 teeth per inch, black oxide coating, about 7/16 length of threads, " T C S " stamped on top.

Yeah, they're fixed. Looks short to be a flex plate bolt UNLESS it sheared off in the crank.

Easy enough to check if it is a torque converter bolt, if not that then maybe a flex plate bolt. But there are also bolts that hold the front pump in I think. What trans, 45rfe?

Trans is 46re - or at least its supposed to be, was replaced about 8 years ago.

Unlikely this bolt has been rattling around in there for 8 years, its a little dinged but looks like it fell out recently.

Also it is not sheared off, the tip is clean and still has its black oxide coating.

Thx for your help.

Looks like flex plate to tq verter bolt.
Remove the starter then the inspection cover. Then turn the motor over with a wrench on the hb and look for missing bolt.

This is a picture of the 46RH install on my truck and at the bottom you can see the head of a flexplate to Torque converter. I think that bolt is one of those.
