I've always used Duralast from AutoZone on all my vehicles. Buy one set and the rest are free as long as you own the car. Seem to stop just fine. When I bought my 2015 (used), Dealer put new pads and rotors on all 4 as part of the negotiation. Which brings up a question. How long can I expect them to last? It's driver dependant of course, but generally speaking what can I expect? I usually get 40k give or take on prior vehicles.
They seem as good as the expensive set I replaced. And I do recall a great warranty

I have a full set Front/Rear of Hart semi-metallic pads still in their wrapper/box. They sent them to me by mistake. They are up for grabs.

Ive been on oreallys blank rotors since I bought the truck used and needed to replace the ones that came with it. For pads I was running the oreallys semi metallics then switched to Wagner severe duty also semi metallic. I Tried power stop pads ceramic initially and didn’t like their cold bite. The semi metallics have more clamping power and they work great with 35 and even 37”s. Did the same experiment recently with my Jeep JKU on 35’s and tried the power stop ceramic extreme truck and tow pads since I had upgraded to bigger rotors in the front. Same issue I found in my truck they don’t bite cold so I dumped them in the trash with only a few thousand miles and got me another set of Wagner severe duty for that application so now I’m running semi metallics full time and they feel great cold or hot. Sure there is some more dust compared to ceramic but I need to brake when I step on my brakes since my vehicles are heavier than stock with bigger than stock tires.

Just for grins since I just had my ram in pieces and the brakes looked good,I went to EBCs easter sale and 800 + for the ram was eye opening,I’m used to getting bent over when I buy parts for my vette, but after spending 200 for the same duralast pads and rotors for my work(retired)car and not noticing the difference from the ebc pads and C4CFA92F-7017-4E13-A8B1-ED4363E50EBF.jpeg rotors I previously put on.I do need heavier springs on the 1500 C. Yesterday the wife made a new project that involved getting dirt from our cities compost facility and it was smashing the overload bumpers badly. No relevant pictures except my two recent dyno tunes on the two mentioned vehicles and my overloaded ram.244135F7-7912-48FA-B35E-EB8FFBE25708.jpegCC069517-1162-4FEF-8BB9-486F9E6AB245.jpeg

I run the Wagner severe duty semi-mets on my 2500HD word trucks that are loaded to capacity, my 2000 Jeep wrangler and my 2016 Ram RCSB. Heavy loads and even occasional towing require the semi-met. Have tried many others in between, some by my choice, but these seem to hold up the best. The full ceramic pads were so inconsistent (from the local parts shop's pads, AZ or Adv.AP )that they maintained so much heat that I was constantly warping rotors. Since changing to the semi-mets, the warping has stopped. Not everyone's application will be the same however. I'm also not worried about brake dust. Its more important for me to stop when I need to stop.

I've got 69 k on my 14 oem pads, front and rear and 67k on my 16 oem pads front and rear.

14 is due for replacement in 10k or less, 16 looks like new.

14 driven stop and go daily, 16 long trips with lots of freeway time.

I'll go back with oem pads.

I'm calling BS! I've got Power Stops on my 3500 and they are fantastic. The 3500 is always towing something and as many of us know, when speeds fall below 25 MPG, the brake controller reduces trailer braking putting more braking effort on the tow vehicle.
You can call BS all ya want but 3 different trucks and 2 different drivers, same result. I'll never put Power Stops on a truck again.

another vote for Wagner severe duty semi metallic pads
stops with confidence in all conditions, always quiet and pretty low dust considering how well they brake and how little fade there is

I need to change my brake pads and don't particularly like the factory pads. What are some better choices? 2016 ram 1500

Thanks
JD
If you are able to get them easily, ceramic is the better choice. Brakes pads naturally get very hot when being used and this is when ceramic pads shine. You will get many recommendations on various brands, do your own homework and make the choice yours. The chamfer on brake pads is for noise too, it prevents the squealing from glazed pads.
