Hello all,

So I have an 18 Ram 1500 Sport and have a quick question. My wife messaged me the other day and said that she noticed some foam sticking out from under the dash on the forward side against the windshield. I am currently deployed so I have had eyes on this yet in person just through photos. She said it is not like that on the passenger side and was curious if anyone else has noticed this and if so is it just a sime push back under or should I get a dealer involved to fix it.

That's weird! I've had two Rams and have never seen anything like that before. If you're still under warranty I would let the dealer handle it.

Hi rojo_143,
We understand why this might be concerning. If you decide to have your dealer address this and would like some additional assistance, please do not hesitate to send our team a private message!

My 13 Ram has that foam, is a closed cell foam all along lower window, used to cut noise or rattles. It may have worked its way out a little, can easily push back with something. Nothing to worry about. Mine is not 100% even, seen this in many cars. Puts a little pressure between dash and windshield I think to mainly stop rattles. Totally normal. I never really noticed it until one day I was cleaning dash and seen it.

I posted about this a while ago and didn't get any responses.

The foam on mine got partially lifted as it must have got stuck to my windshield sunscreen. Half the side of the foam is adhesive. Hence why when I lifted the sunscreen up it attached itself and lifted partially up.I dont know what the function of this foam is, I tucked it back in. The area where mine listed was passenger side speaker area.
Since the foam is square shaped and has adhesive on one side, it would require the windshield to be removed for it to be refitted back correctly. I obviously didn't go that far to address approx one foot area that had lifted. I merely pushed mine back down. No issues or noise thus far. I believe it's to prevent items falling behind the dash.

Even if came all the way out, a piece of long weatherstripping would work, Is just a rattle etc reducer. Stuff moves, especially on trucks since suspension isn't as soft as most cars, a lot of dealers put little pieces of self stick felt in areas of a creak or rattle to stop noise between panels etc.

I have that issue not but on the passenger side. it is supposed to sit right under the shell of the dash to cut down on vibration. if you pop the speaker grill out you have easier access to pull it back under the the dash shell. that reminds me I have to do that today. The sun visor pulled mine out when I pushed it too far down because it is sticky

Last sentence, about the sunvisor pulling it out. Exactly same situation for me. I just pushed it back in, didn't notice any resonance even when it was pulled out. I still think its to prevent items like paper or tickets from slipping behind the dash.
