I haven't posted in a while and I'm not sure if this is the right spot or not, but guys, I gotta vent!
I recently decided that it was time to get into something a little newer, so I sold my 2016 Delmonico Red Sport and decided to go after a 2020 or newer Midnight Edition with etorque.. Plus a few other must haves.
Last week I finally found the deal I as after, at a large dealer in Toledo, which is 250 miles away. A ram Certified Pre Owned 2020 RAM with 21k miles with everything that I was after. I noticed on the carfax that it actually received its certification at 20k miles a month ago... Meaning that it received 1000 miles since certified. A sales person was obviously using this truck for that many miles. I specifically asked twice that it was in its original cpo state without scratches or dents etc. Reply was "it's a really nice truck". So I committed to it and wired the funds, in full.
Fast forward to today.. My daughter drove me to Toledo this morning, more than 4 hours one way. When we get there and inspect the truck, we found that it was pretty beat up and filthy. It had a ton of scratches all over. Many would probably buff out but several will not. I could've probably gotten past that but there was also body panel damage. The lower front of the bed had been crumpled, small dent in the cab corner next to it and a good size dent in the back of the cab right above the glass. One bed side had been horribly buffed and would need extensive buffing, possibly wet sanding to correct. It was just rough all over! To add insult, the entire truck was filthy.. Someone used it to haul a load of dirt and it stiil had dirt in the bed, tail gate and rear bumper. The interior floor and mats were full of crumbly dirt and sand plus someone didn't know how to control their car Al macchiato and got sticky goo all over the console and stained the drivers seat. The truck I saw today was not the same condition as pictured. This truck was NOT CPO quality!
Naturally, I was heated.. As was my daughter. Love the way that girl sticks up for Dad. The manager on duty was invoked at this point. So he comes in doing what managers do.. Telling me what a great deal this is and that body dame and scratches are not part of the inspection. I laughed and told him to read the checklist that he just gave me! It's all there in black and white.. Body panels.. Check! Refinish minor scratches.. Check! Clean and waxed.. Check! Interior clean and condo.. Check! A lies. Someone used this hell outta this truck while it was for sale. This truck was garbage. My 2016 with 70k miles stood out like a diamond next to this thing! And then he offers me $300 off. That wouldn't even cover the detail bill!
In the end, I walked out. Now I have to wait for them to send me a frickin check. The manager called me on the way home asking what they could do.. I told them nothing, it's over unless they find one like it in better condition. I let him know that I had 4 hours to write reviews all the way home. He begged that I not do that but it is what it is. I told him "find me what I paid for and I'll take every review down" I picked up the copy of the certificate on the way out.. Which wasn't even completed correctly. Also took lots of pictures and have a copy of the bill of sale. I'm going to try to reach out to chrysler on Monday and see if they have any answers. For now, I'll hold back on the dealers name. Not sure if I can or should file anything with BBB?
Well, if you made it this far.. Thanks for reading lol
