I just pulled out the old pump and was about to put in the new when I noticed the extra hose connection. I've seen this on replacement videos on YouTube but didn't realize my old one didn't have it. Can I use this new pump somehow or do I just have the wrong one?

just making a educated guess
If i recall correctly
2001 Dodge Ram 1500 is a second Generation
2002 Dodge Ram 1500 is a third Generation

The 3rd generation may be fitted with Emissions fittings

Hopefully, someone with more knowledge, will have more information

The 2001 with a 5.2 should have the pump with the vent line. In 2002 when they switched to the 4.7 & 5.9 it went to the ventless single fitting pump like you have.
On the top of your tank is there a random line running to the back top of the tank? Also have to ask, you sure it is a 5.2 truck and not a 4.7 or 5.9?
Maybe the pump or tank was swapped out by someone previously?
