I have a 2006 quad cab 1500 5.7 hemi
I need the master switch on the drivers door, mine dies sometimes and it’s getting annoying, I’ve taken it apart, cleaned it with dielectric grease and it starts working again for a month or so then starts crapping out.
Can I only get the same switch system out of a third gen Dodge Ram or will I be able to get one out of another vehicle.
I needed fog lights and I found I could get them out of a Durango 2004 to 2008 (I think)
So looking for that sort of thing

It just kinda depends on which parts your looking for to if they were used elsewhere. In general 2006-2008 (and 2009 2500/3500) trucks will work for most everything

Window switches are gonna be 2006-2008. 2002-2005s might work too but I wouldn’t chance it

Fog lights should work from 2002-2008 trucks. I just bought a jumper harness off of amazon for my 2006 and it worked great

Seats from any truck between 2002 and 2018 will bolt up and have the power movement wired in without too much issue. Also 2019-present classics and the 2019-present 2500 and 3500s will work just as well. But if you don’t like a little custom wiring you’d have to find 2006-2008 seats

The instrument cluster is strictly 2006. I’m not sure what all is different besides the backlighting, but if your cluster goes out replace it with an ‘06 truck only. To be safe I would only replace all electrical modules with 2006 truck modules. Sometimes things can get wonky if other things are thrown in

Radio, shoot honestly these radios are everywhere. Dodge avengers, PT cruisers, durangoes, sebrings, etc from 2004 until about 2010. Basically if it has the same shape as your radio it’ll work. Just make sure any OEM radio you buy has the options you want. They have a 3 letter code right below the right turn knob. (aux port (REF), 6-disk (RAQ), etc)

The taillights were used from 2002-2006. Headlights went from 2006-2008, however 2006s came with an amber bar at the bottom of the headlight. I didn’t like it so I bought some 2007-2008 style headlights and got rid of it

Exterior wise, doors, bed, cab, rear bumper, tailgate and hood are all interchangeable between 2002-2008. Quarter panels, grille, and front bumper are 2006-2008 only

There is more but honestly theres too many small parts to list. Some PT cruisers and jeep liberty’s use the same door lock push knob, some chrysler sebrings use the same cruise control switches, and you can pull the little window switch outer covers off of older PT Cruisers and they’ll fit your switches, just to name a few. I’ve already wrote a book lol but in general 2006-2008 trucks will have everything you need, however SOME other chryslers jeeps and dodges will have a few components that will fit in your truck

Damn! That’s a lot of info!!
Mostly it was the master window switch
There’s a junkyard pull apart about an hour or so away from me with good prices because you take everything off yourself. They don’t have too many rams (which is a good and bad thing I guess) they have tons of f150s and Silverado’s though.
The fog lights didn’t fit from the 2005 Durango I got it off.
My rear lights are weird, they look like older ones as they aren’t from a 2006 that I ever saw.
Do all the quad cabs have the same box size do you know?
Mostly wondering for a tonneau cover

Yeah the 2006s came with the flat ones like the 2002-2005s do. In 2007 they changed to the bubbly “afterburner” style that they probably just copied from the silverados of the time

I’m not sure on the box size. I’d just measure front to back to be sure, its gonna be either a 5’7, 6’4, or 8 footer

My one is 6’4. My Dad has a 2008 f150 and it’s 6’6 but it’s only extended cab with the suicide doors. I’m happy having full doors instead of an extra 2”. Plus I have the 5.7 he only has the 4.6L

Just so you know.

You can not put a Ford or Chevy bed on a Ram, so the length of them does not matter.

When it comes to electronic components, generally you can't use 4th Gen electronics on a 3rd Gen Ram of any size, 1500, 2500, 3500
