Engine swap possible

I have a 2014 ram with the 6 speed and have to replace my engine. I found a 2013 engine that mated to an 8 speed. Will it be a direct engine swap or will there be issues. ?

That must be a late build '13 or mistaken '14 model year truck as the 8 speed behind the Hemi was officially released for the '14 MY.
The engine itself should be a direct swap, the previous notable changes to the motor was for the '10 MY.

The 8 speed was actually released MY 2013 on the higher trim level trucks Phil. The ( 13 and 14 ) 8 speeds are the ones that have issues being tuned with Diablo,in most cases if you want to tune their transmissions you have to use HP

Check the back of the crank and install the pilot bushing for the 6 speeds torque convertor,the 8 speeds convertor snout is differant from the 6 speeds convertor snout.

I think he's wanting to swap the engine,not the transmission,at least that's the way i read it.

I wonder if the '13s were just factory spec builds before they were open to customer orders, looking at that MY sales brochure didn't list the 8spd as an option.

Check out the option list at the bottom of the article. You could get the 8 speed starting MY 2013 on the higher trim level trucks. Theres a few guys on here that have a 2013 with the 8 speed. The 13's were also the only year you could get the hemi /8 speed combo with 3.55 gears,after 13 they dropped the 3.55's ,and all you could get with the hemi and 8 speed were 3.21's and 3.92's which i think was a mistake

I went digging through my pile of dealer brochures and still have one for the 2013's,lol. In it the 8 speed is a new option,and they have a couple paragraphs expounding it's virtue's.By the brochure it was even an upgradeable option on the CC SLT's in 13..
