Why does the fuel mileage on my 2017 6.4 power wagon suck. Gets nowhere near the stickered mileage. Don't get me wrong I love the power when I need it but 14 mpg on the highway and not hammering on it is getting old. Factory spec as far as tuning and a bit over 3300 miles. Any help would be appreciated.

My 2014 got really low HWY mileage when new. It got better with more miles on it.

What octane fuel are you using? Mine got consistently better mileage with 89 & 92 octane fuels vs. 87.

I have read that after 5000 miles or so your engine loosens up a bit and mpg will improve. That being said, don't PW have 4:56 gearing ?

I had a 2016 ram 6.4 hemi with the 4.10 gear and it would get on a good day 14 mpg. Traded up for a 2018 diesel haven't looked back yet. I'm yet to hit the fuel station in the new truck and have almost 480 miles on her now and still have 1/4 tank of fuel. My average with the 6.4 was around 310 to 350 miles per tank.

I get between 14-15 mpg on my 5.7 1500 with 3.92 gears driving mostly highways, but have bumper to bumper traffic (about 1/4 of the time). I do have a little bit of a heavy foot.

To op-
Give it some miles and it will get better. Straight hwy miles I can pull almost and some times 500miles a tank, lately I have been all city driving and driving like an ******* and my evic is showing 300 miles or less. I have the 3:73 gears - You either have 3:73 or 4:10”s - IMO these two gears should net extremely close with the exception the 4:10”s should do better being able to hold mds active for longer.

I've been a bit dissapointed with the mileage on my 2017 Rebel...13-14 in town...16-17 on the highway.

But..its only got 2600 miles on it...and moving those larger heavy tires makes it worse.

I'm hoping to get up to 18-19 on the highway eventually...after 5-6K miles...the break in being done.

Either way I didn't buy this truck for the mileage...so I'm not going to complain too much.

Definitely wouldn't trade it for a 4 banger getting 30mpg....

It will get better after it is broken in. My 6.4 got a little better after about 5-7,000 then this summer right around 20,000 it bumped up another 1-2 mpg. I have gotten as much as 18.6 on the highway. That's according to the lie-o-meter... anytime I have hand calculated it has been off by 1-2mpg.
Now that I think about it, I didn't think they advertised a mpg on the HD Trucks?

My mileage didn't improve much until after about 15,000 miles. I average 20-22 in my 5.7 on trips if I stay 70 or slower and use cruise control. City is about 16-17...

My 2017 5.7l with 3.92 rear gets 17 -18 combined. Thats with 1/3 driving in stop & go construction and the rest highway at 70- 80 mph mostly cruise control with a few stomps to pass. 2600 miles on the clock so far

Averaging 17.25 mpg with 2012 Reg cab 4x4 5.7 -- 3.55 gearing. Not driving aggressively, probably more highway miles there than town/city.

They do not give an MPG rating on HD trucks. Surprised no one else caught this, so Im not sure what OP is talking about when speaking of the "stickered" MPG.

This is a 7500 pound brick with off road tires and a Hemi. Not sure what people expect. Even on the highway. I'm getting just under 10 right now with 90% city lately. Honestly dont give a **** either. I know what I was getting into when I bought the truck, and I love the truck. Thats the trade off.

Also, comparing 1500 trucks to a PW is comparing apples to oranges.
