Hey friends. I am hoping someone can help me.
If anyone has suggestions or experienced this, please let me know.
I have a 2015 1500.
So the other day I was walking the dog and saw that my headlights were on and didn't think much of it other than it's weird but thought maybe I hit a key in my pocket. Then on the way back they were off so thought they just timed out. Well to save from the stories, it seems like my headlights have been going on and off for days, even when the car is off.
What I've done so far:
Checked with the headlight switch in all positions.
Removed the headlight switch.
Removed the light sensor.
Disconnected the bypass for the alarm and remote start
Disconnected the alarm and remote start
Reset my factory setting to off for headlight delay and headlight on when unlock.
Not sure if there is a relay but fuses were all good.
Right now the battery is disconnected so I don't blind the neighbors or drain the battery.
I don't know where to go from here. I haven't done anything new or different to the truck in a long time and the same lights have been in there for over a year with no problems whatsoever.
I would love to hear thoughts and help.
Thank you in advance!!!

If you’re headlight still come in with the battery disconnected the you know the truck is possessed.

I know the voices in my head aren’t real, but man, do they ever come up with some great ideas

I had a 2004 Ram that would behave similar. In my case, the headlights would stay on after the knob was turned off. Back to on and then off for the lights to remain off. My Body control module was failing. My wipers would turn on when the truck was not running and when driving. The power door locks would function on their own as well.

When you say same lights for over a year, do you have halogen bulbs or something like HID’s?
I had HID’s in another truck that did that and it turned out being a faulty Morimoto harness.

They are LEDs that I have hooked up straight to the bulb wires. Those have been installed for about 2 years.

I’m guessing the headlight switch, but I’m not sure if that would make sense with the ignition in the off position.
Sorry that’s happening to you

Thanks bud. I tried to leave the switch in all positions and even removed the switch and it still did it.
I am most worried about the battery getting drained.

Thank you. I am trying to diagnose this right now on my own since I know electrical troubleshooting can be an issue and expensive. Thank you though!

So someone told me they had the same issue and what they did was take out the battery from the key fob and the issue stopped.
I didn't believe it and couldn't fathom how it even made sense but I took his advice and gave it a shot. Well for 3 days no issue...until this morning when it happened again.
I am at a loss for what to do or what it could be or how to fix it.

Did you diagnose it to be the BCM or just figured that was all it could be? Right now I am leaning toward the same thing but I want to be sure before I go and spend all that money on it.
Thank you in advance!

I have essentially the same problem. Rotating the lights knob - anywhere from the “auto” position to any other position, at least the running lights stay on - most of the time now. Has been getting worse now for a month or 2. Can’t get the running lights to go off, have resorted to onlooking the neg battery terminal so as not to drain the power when parked. Shuddering to think it may be the TIPM......any ideas or guidance, RamCares????

Hi VTPackerBacker,

I'm sorry to hear that you are also experiencing this concern with your truck. To clarify, have you brought this to the attention of your servicing dealer? If not, I recommend doing so, as they are in the best position to diagnose your concern and determine the appropriate course of action. If you do end up addressing this with your dealer, please know that we would be more than happy to provide you with an additional layer of support for that process.

I'm having the same problem. 2010 Ram 1500, the lights go on and off randomly, AND my front windows will go down - sometimes halfway, sometimes all the way. This happens even when my keyfob is in the house and not near the truck. Any ideas?
