I’ve searched for this before posting.
Bought a ‘99 5.9 for a plow truck, cheap and knew it would have problems. 2.2k rpm at startup, 1500 D/R, same symptoms which have been addressed a lot.
Cleaned throttle body and cables well.
First changed IAC, no change, then tps, no change, map and it idled around 500-800, sputtering, never died, pop pop pop pop pop. I dc’d the battery for a few minutes. Started right back at 2.2k.
