Auto trans, 125000 miles.
Idle will rev from 600 rpms to 1000 rpms intermittently and back down while sitting still. I am not sure if there is a lack of power when driving because I have always own diesels. I am not use to driving a small v8 so not sure if this is the way a 4.7 runs. I have owned it for a year, it appears the engine has been well maintained. It sometimes stalls when stopped but starts right back up. No codes , no MIL. Any input would be appreciated.

The 4.7 is a pretty solid engine. I have had a few 4.7's that have treated me really well. As for your idle question, no, it is not supposed to surge from 600-1000rpm like it is. The engine is also not supposed to stall. A little bit of diagnostic work is in order to determine what is going on.

My 17 2500 6.4 did that as well. I figured it out. I was parked for over 10 minutes and truck was in Neutral with my foot on the brake. Once I put it in Park, it immediately stopped going up & down.
