No, no worries there. See my edited post up top. That wire brush bit will save you a ton of time and get it bare metal in seconds. I also like to put a second self tapper screw more towards the back on the ring terminal just for extra contact or incase it gets loose.

I don't see any bare metal, unless they did it to the exact size of the ring terminal. (which I highly doubt) When I do it, it typically is at least 1" by 2" just so I know I have enough contact. This could easily be your issue.

Pick one of these up: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Lincoln-...gclid=CMSShLOw8MoCFUgkhgoddMsJeQ&gclsrc=aw.ds and sand down to shiny bare metal, then place bolt back down.

It looks like the did sand it the same size as the ring terminal

The shop said they will swap a new amp in and if the swap doesn't work they will not make me pay for the amp. Still suspect though lol

At this point it's all you can do, if everything else checks out. You paid for labor, I don't see why they wouldn't cut you a deal on an amp.

Yes cause they will take the time and send it to kenwood for warranty. So hopefully they will cut you a deal.

Did you buy this amplifier from Amazon or through a 3rd party on Amazon? If the former applies, then they should take the amp back with no questions.

So half that circle still had paint on it. I ground it down to metal and reattached the ground wire. Turned the gain back up on my amp and tested for 10 mins! It is working flawlessly so far!!! Could that bit of paint make a difference? I need to turn the gain up more and keep testing but so far it's working!!! [emoji3]

Yes... grounds are very sensitive and can cause all types of issues. I am glad you are in business so far.

This amp doesn't have a gain dial.....it has

Input Sensitivity
Base Boost Level
LPF Frequency
Filter Switch for a & b channels
HPF Frequency

No. Bass Boost should almost always stay at 0. Input Sensitivity is the gain.

I spoke too soon lol. As soon as I put the gain past half way the amp shuts off[emoji35]

Yeah with the LC7i you shouldn't be anywhere near half if the LC7 is configured correctly.

I can increase the sub gain without issues. If I increase the channel a & b gain past 1/3rd the amp will shut off.

Hmm that's an odd issue because subs usually draw the most current.

I would still test to see if the spot they used is a good ground. After that I would check to see how the LC7i is set and make sure its set by the book.
