Hello - It's my first post and I'm unsure exactly where to ask this question... I replaced the blower motor control unit (resistor) on my 2011 Ram 2500 (manual temp control, Part # 68048900AA, I believe) with an aftermarket resistor and noticed that the fan was running EXTREMELY slow. I checked the resistances of the 4 tabs in the new unit and found that they were about 4 times the value of the older unit! (I returned the new unit for a refund). I would like to check the values of the old unit versus OEM specs. Can anyone provide what the values should be? (And please let me know where best to post these types of questions, as I will probably have another one about the fan/motor). Thanks!

Got a picture? If it's the same as the one from my 13 ram I may be able to help you out. (Got it in a box somewhere).

Thanks for replying. I reinstalled it into the truck tonight but it looks exactly like the attached pics (although much older and dirtier).

Sorry for the delay. I've got one that looks just like that and will dig it out after work tonight and find a PN to verify.

Thanks. You will likely notice that the 4 prongs correspond to fan speeds listed on the unit itself just outside the plug socket (you can see them on the photo I supplied as well). 1= M1; 2=H; 3=L; and 4=M2. Another point of interest is that when I bought the new aftermarket resistor, I also bought an aftermarket blower motor/fan. It turned out to be very noisy (distinctive whine) and turns about 50%-75% the speed of the original fan. I have since ordered an OEM Mopar motor/fan and will be sending back the afternarket unit as well. Some times it just does not pay to install non-OEM parts. Whether I replace the old OEM resistor now or later will depend upon whether the Ohm readings meet original specs. I appreciate you taking the time to find your old unit and check the readings.

Here you go. Schematic from my 2013 truck.
If you decide you need another resistor, let me know and I can work something out if you want the one I have...

Thank you again - that was just what I needed to confirm the condition of my old resistor. Here are the results, including the new resistor I purchased (and had refunded):

Test Results.jpg

It's obvious why the new resistor caused the motor to run so slowly. Plus, the old resistor matched your numbers almost exactly. I don't think I need to change it out at this point. The new OEM blower will arrive by next weekend and hopefully will run at a normal speed.

Again, huge thanks!

Happened across this thread and decided to write a follow-up. It’s now over 20 months later and the new OEM fan and old resistor still work perfectly. Just wanted to say again mpgrimm2 much gratitude for going above and beyond to help out, and thank you for your service to our country!!
