Hey all. Well I think I got a exhaust manifold leak. When I hit the gas I can hear some good vibration coming from both sides of the engine, mostly the right side. The manifolds are really rotted out good from the previous owner. The truck runs great but I hate that noise and I am happy it happend so it would give me a reason to move this mod higher up on the list.

With that said money is still tight and I was looking at flowtech and gibson shorties for my truck.

I looked up reviews and I think these would be a good pair for me. If I put more than 10k a year on my truck and didnt baby it so much I would concider a more expensive pair but this along with a new Y pipe I think would be good.

What do you guys think?

Also I am worried about taking off my old hmanifolds. Like I said they are rotted out pretty good and I am not sure I am going to be able to take them off. Any suggestions? I really dont want to have to pay a shop to do that especially because I know I can and have been excited to do it myself.. If you want I can try and send some pics of my manifolds to give you all a better idea of what they look like

Out of those 2 go with the Flowtech. I wanna say the BBks will work but not 100% sure. If I recall correctly Richard had BBK coated shorties on his 04. Get some pics up of what were working with on rust.

Also are flowtech good headers? Anyone have experience with them?
They have ceramic headers for $425. I think I can manage that if ceramic will last me a long time.
Should I go this route or should I get the regular ones and get high temp header paint or some other route that will make them last?

I was going to save up for JBA headers but my manifolds are leaking pretty bad and vibrate like hell. Just want a new pair of headers that are good quality and last for a good amount of time

A lot of people are getting pacesetter. But really brand is up to you its all the same crap lol
As for ceramic vs high temp paint definetly opt for the ceramic coated will last you a lot longer.

And as far as your issue I would say upgrade definetly. Make sure you get the mopar gasket (55 bucks from moesperformance) and the stage 8 locking header bolts (43 bucks from summitracing). And if you feel as if a bolt is gonna break blast it with wd40 or kroil or pb blaster whatever ya got and tighten and try to loosen. Repeat this process till the bolt is out. If you do break one get yourself a screw removal tool, I'm sure a parts store near you will have one.

Hope this helps man.

the thing about the high temp store bought spray can paint is that I've never seen one actually hold up. I know that just under normal driving my exhaust temps are around the 1600° mark. WOT the temps are higher.

Thanks... Having a 2500 im limited to headers. I havent seen any pacesetters made for my truck. I know the flowtech headers I have been looking at come with gaskets.
I plan on spraying pb blaster on the bolts everyday when I get home from work and hopefully get the headers in this week and give me 3 days to work on them incase something happens. Hopefully it will be a one day job. I will def look into the locking bolts that should be a good upgrade there

Are there any other coatings I could do myself to prolong the life of my headers?
I dont drive a whole lot and dont drive hard thats the only thing holding me back from getting ceramic headers.. and money ofcorse

Curious to see if anyone has looked into these headers at all

Stainless Steel Exhaust Header 03 08 Dodge RAM Hemi V8 5 7 1500 2500 3500 Truck | eBay

these were another set I found also along with these edelbrock ones.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Edelbrock-H...ts=Model:Ram+2500&hash=item4d0c4966ad&vxp=mtr

they say they are for 2003. is there a difference in the engine?

The EBAY ones scare me since stainless steel anything is not that cheap. Longtubes are not gonna fit your truck like you states unless you get a shop to make a set which is not worth it for what your looking for.
