Damn. I'd love to know what it was like back then. Ft Carson or ft hood? I was at carson. You were probably hood since the cav didnt move to Carson till the 90's if I'm correct

Actually, when I was with the 3rd ACR, they were at Ft Bliss, El Paso, Texas I was discharged Mar '84, and if I remember correctly, later that year or '85 they were supposed to move to Ft Hood.

I went to Reforger with the Cav. Personally, I miss 2/11 FA, it was a M102 Air Mobile unit, 25th Inf Div

3rd ACR was at Carson until 09, then they went to Hood. 4th ID moved from Hood to Carson at that point. Most of us ACR guys just swapped patches. Lol!

How I loved the new generation of soldiers who ******* about the internet being down on deployment and no air conditioning. For the record, my 1st deployment was al Saad air base 2003. We drove into iraq from Kuwait. I was in a m927 xl wheelbase 5 ton pulling a trailer with a quad on. My a/c was the windows open including windshield and goggles. Took the damn truck 5 mins to get up to convoy speed. By that time convoy had to stop and I was slowing down lol. I was so happy when I blew a tire and didnt have to drive cause I was being towed.

Internet? AC?, Not in my time, similar to yours, windows rolled down, my deuce had a turbo, so the stack was on the right front fender, and if the wind was right, the diesel fumes were blowing in through my Section Chief's window. Closest thing we had to internet was the Comm truck, and that was if the wind was blowing the right direction
