Modify OEM running boards

Might a be weird one but.... has anyone ever modified the oem running boards to make em fight tighter to the body? basically move them up and in a bit. I was thinking maybe with spacers or re drilling holes or something, anything?

I kinda like having them I just wish they where tighter to the body.

I'm the opposite. I want mine to stick out further as they tuck in too much. I'm not sure if they are the stock ones or not as i bought the truck used. Maybe trade? Mine are chrome though.
