Hello from Texas. I am new to the forum. Was towing our Grand Design Imagine 2950RL, 9000# GVWR and 1200# tongue weight with our old 2002 Dodge Ram 2500 5.9L CTD SB SRW 3.55 gears. Still have our old Ram but bought a new 2018 3500 to eventually step up to a 5th wheel for full time RV living.

Currently towing our current travel trailer RV with an Equalizer WDH 1400/14000. The old Ram did a great job towing this rig but the old Dodge just can't handle the 5th wheel we are looking at. The new Ram towing the travel trailer, well no comparison.
In a year will step up to a Grand Design Solitude 3350RL-S at 16,000# GVWR 5th wheel 3800# pin weight. I'll be using a B&W Companion hitch the fits the Ram pucks and a MORryde pin box.

Still experimenting with the new Ram exhaust brake and tow/haul mode. Seems I like the automatic setting for the exhaust brake and usually use straight tow/hall for the Texas hill country. On flat interstate towing will probably limit it to 5th gear with the travel trailer. When we get the 5er will select tow/haul and leave it there.

Look forward to reading the forum and participating.

Welcome to RamForum and congrats on the new truck. I like the fact you got a dually considering what you plan on hauling when you get the 5'vr.

Tow/Haul with automatic exhaust brake works pretty well and I've found it to be the best setting too.

No reason not to switch out of Tow/Haul for a flat tow or towing in some rolling hills. It will help the MPG a little bit and you can always switch back to Tow/Haul for the larger hills.

More pics ok. The Longhorn Southfork ,didn't know about the Southfork part of it ,just thought it was a Longhorn. Seems the Southfork package includes tailgate letters, instrument panel center stack bezel-walnut veneer, leather wrapped grab handles and luxury front and rear floor mats.
I think we got a great deal. The truck listed at $75,430 but we bought it for $63K. That was $12,430 off the sticker. They had a gulf states Ram/ Cummins Diesel incentive clearing out the 2018s. Traded in the 14 Durango. This is the only vehicle we will have.

This is one hell of a truck! I love the interior, Our old Ram had the grey charcoal interior, got tired of it.Two bed cameras to help hitch up 5th wheel or receiver hitch. We also have a rear camera on the RV. Even has cooled & heated front seats and heated steering wheel. 5th wheel goose neck package, 220 amp alt, We got the 5 year 100K power train warranty and 5 year 75K on the rest of the truck. Rides great for a one ton, better than our 2500. Checked the air pressure in the tires, all at 80psi. Seemed strange should be 80 front 65 in each rear. Next time we tow the RV I'll lower the rear pressures to 70 each and see what that does. It doesn't have TPMS which I thought strange, but I can deal with that.

The wife and I will be traveling the roads a lot full time RV living. Can't wait to get started.

This is our old rig with the 02 Dodge 2500 great lady. she has done a great job over the years, still only has 82K miles on her. Passing it off to my son when we go full time RVing.

That’s a slight upgrade lol. She’s a beauty. Mind me asking what dealer? I’m always trying to find a great dealer within an hour or two of me.
