Hello from Texas. I am new to the forum. Was towing our Grand Design Imagine 2950RL, 9000# GVWR and 1200# tongue weight with our old 2002 Dodge Ram 2500 5.9L CTD SB SRW 3.55 gears. Still have our old Ram but bought a new 2018 3500 to eventually step up to a 5th wheel for full time RV living.
Currently towing our current travel trailer RV with an Equalizer WDH 1400/14000. The old Ram did a great job towing this rig but the old Dodge just can't handle the 5th wheel we are looking at. The new Ram towing the travel trailer, well no comparison.
In a year will step up to a Grand Design Solitude 3350RL-S at 16,000# GVWR 5th wheel 3800# pin weight. I'll be using a B&W Companion hitch the fits the Ram pucks and a MORryde pin box.
Still experimenting with the new Ram exhaust brake and tow/haul mode. Seems I like the automatic setting for the exhaust brake and usually use straight tow/hall for the Texas hill country. On flat interstate towing will probably limit it to 5th gear with the travel trailer. When we get the 5er will select tow/haul and leave it there.
Look forward to reading the forum and participating.
