I have a 2020 warlock with a Hemi, I was wondering if anyone could tell me if this is normal for this truck.

for starters this truck gets horrible gas mileage, like 12 mpg on a good day. While driving on the high way the truck has a hard time maintaining highway speed I really have to put my foot into it when there is any kind of incline. I’ve also noticed that when I take my foot off the gas the truck acts like I’m pressing the brakes, and this is going down hill with no extra weight onboard. I know truck is heavy, but it seems like it should move more freely. Thanks I’m advance for your input.

You're not in a lower gear are you? In my Rebel I can put it in drive and on the steering wheel I can select the top gear it goes into, IE: 8th (being the top).

What are your RPM's at say 70ish?

I haven’t messed with gear buttons on the steering wheel. At 70 the rpm’s are just under 2000.

That is terrible. I have heavy ass 24x14s with 35s and get about 15.5-16. I have the 3.21s also so never see 8th anymore. Prior I'd get 24ish

Is the 12mpg city or highway? Highway you should be able to get close to 20 around 70 mph and over 20 if 60-65. In town or short trips 12mpg would be within the normal range.

I average 10 city/15 hwy. If I go a week just city it drops to 8.
In almost 50 years of driving Mopar V8s I've never gotten the mileage I read about here. 20mpg is a myth for me.
Then again, I don't drive a Hemi truck for it's economic virtues. I get smiles per gallon.:p

Assuming your Warlock has 3.92 gears, 2000rpm at 70mph sounds high for a hemi / 8spd. My 2019 classic w/ 3.21 gears are barely 1500rpm at that speed.

The feeling of braking when coasting down a hill is normal 8spd downshifting.

I have yet to get less than ~21mpg tank to tank with my 2019 Hemi. That's hand calculated, mixed driving, over ~23gal fillups. I leave MDS on most of the time.

Damn I get 13-14 mpg in town and 16-18 on highway if I drive normal.... I do have 4.88s now though and when I didn't I could sometimes see 15 around town and 20 on highway... lowest I get now is 11.8 in town when I'm having fun lol

I honestly think the 17" wheels with P rated factory tires are one of the things that makes the MPGs so good on my hemi Ram. I keep them aired up to ~41psig as well.

The more aggressive tread on the warlocks is going to reduce the fuel economy some. Plus, isn't the warlock lifted slightly higher than other trim packages? That will have a negative effect too.

Not being crazy, but have you engaged and the released you emergency brake? Could be partially engaged. Also helpful to know gearing, tires, any upgrades, and what you may be lugging around. Also, are you using cruise control and what speed do you maintain? I have seen my friend tapping to the beat with his foot on the gas and be totally oblivious to the tach bouncing to the music. You should also do a controlled test; fill up truck (to shut off, don't keep clicking to fill pipe) and then by yourself with no extra gear drive at posted highway speed for a couple hours. Then go fill up again and manually calculate mileage and get a true number. This will be your maximum MPG and is a base to start from in determining the extent of your problem. Good luck

IMG_1429.jpg Sounds like you need a pedal commander or a pulsar.
Woke up my hemi after installing both. Mpg around town is 12.2 and thats probably because i can't keep my foot off the gas pedal. really happy with that.

Ok I'm gonna say 12mpg is terrible!

But the way the 8spd trans works
It is normal to have to put your foot on the gas pedal just slightly to get it to
Coast or not feel like it's in a low gear
Going down hill.........and on the steering wheel use the + - button to put it in 8th gear not D .....this will stop MDS so when you accelerate you won't have to push the pedal to the floor

I'm having none of these problems in a '15 Hemi with the 6 speed and 3.55's. It's lifted a bit and wearing all terrain tires and a less aerodynamic high clearance front bumper. Driving generally carelessly it returns about 15mpg, goes up in the vicinity of 18-19 if I'm on the open road without a lot of stopping and I get to use cruise.

Doesn't sound normal to me with a 2019 warlock crew 3.92 stock tires.
I currently have 1600km or 1000 miles on the truck.
I get 15 l/100km in town with mds on. Without mds I get 15.5-16l/100. (15mpg in town) This information is not hand calculated.
I usually shift around 3000rpms. And going to work and shopping is a 5 minute drive. So the engine doesn't get warmed up too much.
I notice no issues you talk about on the highway

Call a lemon law lawyer in your city, maybe the state will protect you. Gas mileage that far off what they say the mileage is, should be actionable. Lemon law Lawyers work on contingency.

I have a 2016 with the 392 rear axle. At 72 or so I am taking 2000. That’s normal. Your mileage however is not. I average between 17 and 19 depending on whether or not I have a trailer behind me. Your mileage should be much higher than that. With that rear axle it will slow down faster when you let off the gas but it shouldn’t feel like you have the brake on. That sounds like an issue you need to address with the dealer

I have the 2019 Warlock 5.7 4x4 quad cab with 3.92 and average 18mpg. I've only put 1000 miles on it so far and have a hard time keeping my foot off the loud pedal. I think it can get way better once I quit playing around.

Not normal at all. I have an ‘18 hemi qc, do a fair bit of both highway and city driving, never below 15. More than enough power at any speed

My ‘17 rebel with 3.92 gears is around 1800-1900 rpms as 70 mph on factory wheels and tires. I average 20-21 on the highway trips and stay at 15-16 around town driving.
