Well I drove to town yesterday, everything was fine. Got home waited an hour or so, and when I went to get the kids from school it sounded like it was running on 7 cylinders. Took it to the shop first thing this morning, it was missing on cylinder 6 and had no compression to the cylinder. So they are tearing into it now to find the cause. I am hoping for valve issues, not sure what I am going to do if I have a hole in a piston. It is an 03 5.7 with just over 100,000 miles. Always maintained. My baby is broke!!

Sad to hear, prob broke a spring. I am hoping the valve didnt drop or cause any damage. Time for upgrades.

I was thinking the same thing. If its going to be torn down anyway...... Guess it just depends on what I have to fix before I decide how much I can spend on mods.

Yep, I concur it's almost assuredly a broken valve spring. Very common on '03 Hemis...

They can toss in a new piston in that cylinder long as no damage was done to the walls. If they rebuild the heads you should get new springs and keepers, have them inspect the push rods also for any gawling.

Got a used engine out of an 06 with 60,000 miles. Old engine was out at 2 am this morning. Have most of the electronics that needed switched over taken care of. Intend to be running again by midnight.

It was a broken valve spring, but I caused the valve to contact the piston and put a hole in the piston. New engine was only $1800. Cheaper and easier than tearing into the old one. Which will probably still happen over the next few months.

Sorry about the crappy cell phone pics. Have lots of them on my camera. When it's all done, I will get them up here.
