Well over a year ago I purchased some oem Mineral Gray take off 2500/3500 flares from EBAY. For whatever reason over the past year I never have gotten these damn things on the truck. Anyway, yesterday I spent like 5 hours removing the 3m tape off the backside where they mount to the fender(talk about a pain in the ass!). I printed some Mopar installation sheets I found online and they mention using supplied j-clips on the wheel opening as needed. Since the flares I got were used, no j-clips were included in the sale. I know a bunch of guys on here have installed these flares on their Sport models. Where are you guys getting these clips and are they even necessary? I want to get them installed this next week since it is finally going to warm up a bit. Thanks for any help!

I'll be watching this; I'm fixing to do the same. Are these flares wider than the OEM 1500 flares? I know the fronts are not as long, and I've read that these are the preferred flares for the Sport Rams.

I don't believe they are any wider than the 1500 flares

you don't need to buy j clips. just use new 3m double sided tape and the existing screws that are around the fender on your truck (they will line up). Every mounting hole on the fender won't get used but its not an issue

So you just get 2500 flares for the same model year as your 1500 and they fit?

I believe any 4th gen 2500/3500/powerwagon flare will work on the 1500 sport model. I got mine shipped for $300 and they are already painted.

I bought a set a few months ago and have been waiting for the weather to warm up to get them on. And I agree, taking of the old 3m tape was a royal PITA. I'm getting sick of looking at them in my apartment, I want them on my truck now!

I need to get a set of these. Ever since I put the 5100's and the larger Duratracs, I noticed they stick out a bit.

I just got a set of match painted 2500 flares of a new 2500. Had to look for sometime because my color is a rarity of them getting in and a new owner not wanting them on. But I lucked out, got them from the guy in Idaho who everyone else seems to get from eBay off of and they are pristine!!

So my question is, what was the trick to get the old 3M tape off the 2500's??
I haven't started yet or looked t how much is still left on, I opened the box to check them out to see if any flaws and none, then put them back in box and had to go out of town. So thinking I will get to them this weekend because I want to get those on the new truck and the ram heavy duty rubber flaps.

First of all, don't pull the 3M tape like you're trying to remove regular tape. Get an end loose and pull parallel to the part to stretch it. Just like the 3M Command Strips, when the adhesive stretches, it lets go.
If the 3M tape is too mangle to pull off in one piece like this, then
3M Eraser Wheel | Product Details | Pep Boys

3M eraser wheel to the rescue. Put wheel on drill. Watch the magic happen.

I had to use the eraser wheel. I clamped the flare down to a table to stabilize it and used spot light to see a little better. You have to be extremely careful because the wheel will eat through the plastic.

Great insight guys. The flares I just got must of came off the 2500 easy cause they have bout all the 3M tape on them!! Wished more came off on their end. Someone told me rubbing alcohol and plenty of hours with a exacto knife or razor. That wheel maybe a time saver.

These are 2500 flares...

They came black like in the sig, then I had them painted to match.

I've been stalking eBay for set for my Sport as well. Really not looking forward to fighting the 3M tape! lol

The guy that I bought from is "easyautoparts" from Idaho. By doing searches, he seems to be where the 1500 guys on the ram forums are getting the eBay 2500 flares from cause his are coming right off new 2500's. These flares I just received are mint, just lots of 3M tape. I wasn't able to get to them today but maybe will start and work on them in the evenings after work. For $449 shipped and color matched to my blue streak pearl, I couldn't touch that price anywhere else, heck new 1500 oem's and painted was a $600+ bill easy.
