Oil Pressure gauge

2003 Ram 2500 quad cab,5.7 Hemi four wheel drive, 8 foot bed, Laramie, with 46000 miles. When you start it the oil pressure gauge does not move, turn it off and restart and the gauge works fine. Anyone know what it wrong?

Could be the oil pressure sensor/sending unit.Located right above the oil filter.It was the fix when I had this issue.Around 20 bucks and 5 min. to replace.Wow 46k.I thought my mileage was low(91k on 2004).Good luck and welcome to the forum.

Thanks for your reply. About all it does is pull a camper, stays in the barn from late Oct. till April or May with the cover on it.

Change the oil sending sensor aswell as change the oil and Filter I have seen bad filters cause this issue also never use FRAM.

Probably 5 or 600 miles on oil change with Napa Gold filter. Going to have the battery checked and put in a new sensor. If that doesn't work I will try the filter. Thanks for the ideas.

Did this issue start after the oil/filter change? IF so change that first.

Changed probably last of May or first of June took this long to get that many miles. Just started doing this Sunday but will keep it in mind as a possibility. I think anything on these things is possible.

Sending unit fixed it.
