Picked up a wide headed screw in my front right tire last night. It didn't perforate the steel belt, but came close to doing so and bent toward the sidewall compromising the tire. Just over 8K miles on the d@mn thing. Damage due to road hazard is not covered under warranty. $218 for mounting, installation and adding insult to injury disposal of the old tire. :Wedgie:

Got Road-hazard on my Wrangler Silent Armours, sorry to hear that, man. I just pay the difference in treadwear depth used vs the 48k mileage warranty.

Should always buy your tires from Discount Tire. They would have covered that.

even if you still have the factory tires, if you go to Discount Tire and buy the certs, they'll cover them completely!

Did it damage the side wall or was it just close to the sidewall. If its close you can always plug. Plug kits are about $10. If there is damage to the side wall you are SOL. Plugging was the norm about 15 years ago. Mid to late 90's is when that made the shops stop plugging highway use tires. I did the same thing a few years ago on my wifes car. Tires were only about half used and I was not buying one or a full set for $1,300. Some small shops will still do it.

Wasn't an option off the OEM lot though. For $18.50 per tire my local Goodyear dealer would sell me road hazard for pro-rated replacement up to the 2/32 wear in the original tire warranty. Not throwing good money after bad though.

Perhaps, but they didn't get the contract :deal: for new tires from Dodge-RAM, now did they? :flame:

That works as long as you get screwed :leghump: in the flat part of the tread. Most reputable tire repair shops wont patch near the sidewall--they just reach into your back pocket for the $$$ for another tire. :(

I second that, they scratched up a set of rims I had about 10 years ago. You spend countless hours trying to keep them in tip top shape and in a few seconds it's gone. I haven't been back (although I moved back to Canada and I don't think we even have discount tire)
